You have 1 day to fish this lake and you have one other person in the boat with you. What is your approach?

800 acres
dark water
1 incoming and 1 outgoing dam
1 20-acre island
the deepest point in the lake = 40 ft
average lake depth = 8 ft
flowage system
Mid-July
Normal spring/ice out
Forage = Suckers, crappies, walleye, bluegill
Plentiful cabbage
Plentiful stumps
Combination sand/muck bottom
Water temps = 72 degrees
2nd day of a warming trend
wind = SW 5 mph
Major at 5:19 AM , 5:45 PM
Minor at 12:09 AM, 10:39 AM

Pretty much. If it looks good, fish it.

Locate the areas where the river channel will swing in to areas with good shallow water cover, weed beds, stump fields. Then fish those areas with the trolling motor set fairly high with bucktails or surface prop baits. Kdawg

If my 'other person in the boat' was Dick Pearson, my approach would be to let him drive the boat. m

Mid-July with water temps at 72… there’s no muskies in the Arctic circle already some good responses though. To start out, lead angler throwing buck tail. The 2nd day of the warming trend, suggests a recent cold front, I would be inclined to be throwing rubber behind it.

As far as locations, it’s only 800 acres and I have the day, I’d fish anything that looks fishy looking for a pattern. May prioritize structure near the deepest part of the lake, or close to the main channel, for those first two moon phases though. By the 5:45 major I would hope to have some fish to go back to or at least a good idea of what structure I should be looking for.

Structure near and the edge of the river channel. Black bucktails, shiney blades during the sun painted when it's not. Topwater towards dark, gliders and twitch baits when you have fish located. If the nights cool off you can slide to some shallow weeds and edges.

I'd find the best looking stumps and toss huge spinnerbaits right up into them.

drive around and side image weed lines looking for points, corners etc, as well as bottom transitions from mud to sand while im drinking coffee and donuts. Define the river channel and mark where is runs close to flats. Make notes of anything that looks fishy with your eyes (shorelines, visible cover type stuff). If there is not a good map maybe run autochart on it. Maybe should do that more anyway.

Start search mode, bucktail / spinnerbaits and probably with the dark water a topwater but also a shallow crank might be good.

I'd look hard at the map and highlight turns in the river channel. I'd highlight points.
Then I'd get on the water and see where the weeds stop growing and highlight that on the map as well.
And I'm fishing where turns meet weeds.
Then I'm using my eyes and finding wood sticking out of the water, throw some waypoints on them. Fish them, but fish them hard if weeds come close to that wood...and if the channel is close, so much the better.
Finally, I'd cruise the deepest part of the lake and see if there is bait out there. And I'd keep an eye on the drop to the river channel.
I'm using big spinners, dark green and black.
Partner is throwing topwater where he can.
In the box would be some glides to match forage, and bulldogs.
Baby depthraiders for trolling.
Lastly, if Ive never fished it before, I'd make sure I had some cold beer in the boat and good bottle of bourbon. For me when the fishing is tough, but more for handing out to other musky guys I see out there to help get them talking to me about the lake.

It’s super simple. Fish the spot on the spot. Use live scope the entire time it just won the PMTT and Spring classic
