Is there a water temperature period in the late fall when you are better off using smaller suckers for your livebait presentation, rather than the mogambo suckers? Now that the late-fall temps. are starting to really kick in here in IL where there is no closed season, I am noticing a preference for slightly smaller suckers than I normally use.

Hi Matt, There are pro's and con's to what size bait you use, at this time of the season or in this water temp range I prefer using the largest suckers I can get, because I'm targeting the largest muskies in the eco-system, action is not my primary concern now. By dropping down the size of the bait, the amount of your action should increase. But what I've also found is by doing this, the size of the muskies I boat also decreases, but it's still possible to nail a big girl on any size bait. I just play the percentages and go with big bait= big fish at this time. [;)]

Thaks for your insight Chuck. I'll be trying to get a hold of you this Spring. I would like to get out on some new water with you this Summer. I was thinking the last week in June would be good. Do you think we'll have a good shot at a long, lean, mean, green one that time of year casting? Got to get that big S.O.B. we had chase after us on lake X! God Bless.
