Posts: 5 | I've fished the chain many times. The numbers are very good and there are many fish in the mid and upper 40's. Spring time can be very good, fish shallow weeds and standing timber - small baits are best this time of year and you can't throw enough surface baits especially at night. In the summer the fish are spread out a bit more but concentrate on weed beds. Lure choice doesn't seem to be as critical - fish are aggressive this time of year - locating them can be more challenging and weather changes can keep them moving. In the fall use bigger baits - jerks, glides and don't forget surface even in cold weather. Fish will be located mostly on rocky shorelines and points but warm weather can move them onto weed edges. This is a pretty body of water - easy to navigate and you can always find water to fish even during extreme weather. Definitely a fun lake - only draw back is lack of really big fish. Good Luck!

Posts: 20281 Location: oswego, il | Hey guys, thanks a bunch for the info. How is the lake for bass and pike? My kids and grandfather would be tossing big bass to small musky lures.

Posts: 114 Location: Eagle Grove, Iowa | Todd, I have also fished the chain and have done very well also. Great lake to get lots of action great topwater bite in evenings. I have also done good trolling the breaks and out in open water just find the schools of ciscos and there will be muskies around them. The lakes also have a good population of smallmouth and walleyes but contains very few northern .I stay at clarks camp great place to stay low rates and the road is all paved to the resort check it out at www.clarkscamp.com good luck, tracy

Posts: 5 | Todd, I was on Indian years ago when two Canadian biologist (Bernard LeBeau & Ian Buchanan) were doing a study to compare how the muskies reproduce on this chain versus lakes that contain both Northern and Muskies. I do know that a few Northern have gotten into the lake by going over the small "Corner Lake" falls. I wouldn't expect you to catch many, if any Northern. This chain does have some dandy Walleye and Smallies but once again you won't catch as many as in other Canadian Lakes. This chain is definitely a good choice if you want plenty of Muskie action, but I'd look elsewhere if you want multi-species action.

| My wife and I are planning a trip to the indian lake chain in September, we have never fished it and would like any information on which baits to use, which lakes are best for muskie fishing, how the weather is then and any information on Fluke. I hear its a great numbers lake. Thanks again Tom | |||

Posts: 5 | I use to fish the Indian Lake Chain the last week of September for many years. In the fall it's best to target Rocky Points and Major Weedbeds (Green weeds are best but don't skip brown ones as they also hold fish). I would encourage you to stick with baits you have the most confidence first but take along some 7" Rapalas or A.C. Shiners (Black & Silver or Red), #5 Mepps, Grandmas and by all means take along several Top Water baits for calm evenings - forget about water temp - give them a go! Fluke can be lots of fun for numbers and once in a while you can pop a BIG one! Contact me directly if you want more detail!
