I'm aware that using jigs and plastics are not the most common way to fish for musky, but for those who do, what are your favorite plastics for jigs (including tubes)? Thanks in advance!

I use bass tubes ~7" not sure on the brand, got them on tacklewarehouse
For jigs I make my own, bucktail or marabou with a 6, 8, or 10" kalins. I use a treble hook as I have lost too many big fish on the single shanks.

I also like using large bass paddletail swim baits when fish get really moody.

Not my go to but I have had success on Reapers on big swim jigs. ( The jig heads may have been made by Steve's dad they either came from him or one of his gang )

Kalin grubs: https://www.acmetackle.com/collections/kalins
I usually use the 8" Octogambo grubs but sometimes, the 6" Mogambo grubs. I have a couple giant gigs i've rigged at up with 10" Big 'N grubs and they look spectacular.

Can jig/plastic be rigged to work in heavy cover, like you see bass guys do? Have no experience at all with this, so please forgive my ignorance. Just know of a spot that harbors a big girl and is tough as heck to fish.

I found reaper bodies on lurepartsonline a year or so ago. To rig weedless I us a single hook and keep the hook point inside the rubber body.

NO8; The answer is Yes. Several years ago, a buddy Musky angler asked if I could design a frog style bait for his buddies that fish Large FL. Bass. He wanted something to come through heavy cover like pads, Hydrilla and cane. He wanted the split tail frog, but wanted a rounder Profile up front. I question his thoughts and asked to give me a week or 2 to put  something together . The round type profile, I thought would be cumbersome in slop.

Here is what I came up with. A sluggo style body up front, then the split tail frog legs backside.

He liked and made the mold...

First the upward bend in the sluggo help with instantly getting bait up Top

Second, the 8 or 9/0 worm hook they used conformed nicely to the bend of the sluggo curve. Also as the plastic cured, It created a Pocket for the worm hook. The pocket allowed you to bring the tip of hook out the plastic, still being weedless, and allowed for better hookups as most of the tip was already through the plastic.

Also, the tapered design upfront helped bait come through the slop.

I also added some air bubbles to the plastic to help with bouancy

Lastly the leggs got the attention of the Bass. Sent about 10 baits down W/ my Buddy. In 2 weeks they wanted 100 baits poured. Needless to Say, they Loved the design.

I loved the sluggo for years W/spring musky. Also plenty of plastic to add rattles.
