Posts: 267 Location: Central Pennsylvania | I consistently see a set of muskies below a trout stream in the summer time, one of the pair being mid 40s or so but I cannot seem to get either of the fish to eat much of anything. I´ve only fished for them during the day, however I´ve tried everything from crankbaits and bucktails to topwaters. These fish seem to show basically no interest, they just sort of lay on the bottom. Any particular tips or recommendations in terms of lures, leader, line?

Posts: 390 | Clear water fish can be tricky. I've learned that low light conditions are your best chance or night fishing. Couple this with long casts or if fishing from shore, stand back 5/10 feet from the shore. I have also witnessed speed being a good trigger for sight hunters in clear water if fishing during the day. Once they spot you they can get lethargic, even more so with pressured fish. For sight fishing clear water fish, throw a 6" tube or oversized bass jig and bounce it near them until they take notice. Good luck

The only clear water I don't mind as mush is LM salmon with wide spreads over deep water and then it's not as good as when they are in close in dirtier water.

Posts: 1083 Location: Hayward, WI | I've caught 2 that I saw in clear water by burning a small, heavy bucktail right in front of there face. I let the lure sink to the bottom past the fish, put my rod down in the water and cranked it as fast as I could 6" in front of their face.
