Who will catch the LAST muskie listed on MuskieFIRST for 2003? Who will catch the FIRST muskie of 2004? Worrall's Woodworking of Little Canada, Minnesota, has offered two muskie photo plaques ( these are really nice scroll art pieces); one ofr each!!!

Enter the fish picture you feel qualifies here, with a spoon in the picture. A small soup spoon will work well, and will not be too hard to carry! The plaqes can be viewed here:

Enter your fish HERE!!

Well I just got back from the lake and got this 35...

If I superimpose a spoon through my head like an arrow does it count?

Just got off the phone with Gregger and Shady. They're on the way back from Kincaid. Kincaid produced a fat 43 for Gregger, and Kly and Shady raised 3 other fish. Sounds like they found some nightlife, too! Congrats Gregger!

I am going after it in the AM. Conditions will be tough but I will brave that sunny 53 degree weather and do my best to wipe those other poor wannabees and neverwills off the board! Hope if the fish hits, it hits at dark, don't want to leave them FIB'S too much time. Let's see, turkey sandwich, fritoes, water jug, coffee thermos, m-80's, oops I mean musky baitys, net rarely used but it probably still works, boat, yeah man, got it all goin!

Had a near miss / exciting experience late this afternoon trying to catch the elusive 12/31 muskie. I was fishing a local river and was concentrating on some eddies I knew held fish. On my first cast with a Manta( a super winter bait) I had not 1 but 2 38"+ class Tigers cruise in on the bait. Unfortunately I ran our of water(I was wading) and the fish moved back into the eddy. I raised 1 of the fish 4 more times but could not get it to eat. This was the first time I ever had 2 fish come in on a bait. They looked like a pack of wolves. Not being able to figure 8 costs me some winter fish when I wade. Forgot the spoon anyway!!! Going back tomorrow so maybe I'll catch the first in 2004.

Happy New Year to all musky hunters.

I spent yesterday giving my spoon a troll around the lake to no avail. Then this morning (New Year's Day) after making breakfast for the kids and watching the taped version of Dick Clark dropping the ball in Times Square (the kids are too young to stay up that late) the wife gave me the go ahead. So me and me spoon made a bee-line to the lake! 1/1/04 11:55am voila!

Did you ever try to hold a spoon and a muskie while taking a picture of yourself? I opted for the spoon over the ear.

Here is a fish, not much of one but a muskie. It was caught on the 31st at about 10:30am. Both pictures have "spoons". One pic has the spoon the fish bit and the other a white plastic one.

Cool picture! Unless someone else has one caught later in the day on the 31st with a spoon in the picture, we have our last of 2003 and our first of 2004! Anyone?
