Posts: 1137 Location: Holly, MI | I can't seem to find what I'm looking for in a spinnerbait. Who makes them up that would be willing to make a couple of custom ones? Here is what I can't find: 1/2 & 3/4 oz Round rubber silicone skirt (thick) .051 wire (.040 would probably work) Closed eye (twisted or safety pin style) Twin or triple blades with willow on top then colorado Everything available comercially in the 1/2 to 3/4 oz size has an "R" bend and .030 or less wire, and these get torn up, bent and broken. Most of the skirts out there are skimpy. I got a Dick Pearson Grinder from Santa (rollies) that has a 275 strand skirt. This thing looks awesome. The Pike and even the huge smallmouth love this size (1/2 and 3/4 oz)spinnerbait on Lake St Clair. But they can tear the cheapies to shreds, bend and even break them. I can't tell you my most productive secrete color but it rhymes with Kite. The small size is great for spring muskies too and I get stuck going on a couple of Bass fishing trips each spring and want to cast somthing that will be all species(I'm secretly fishing for musky but still have to catch some smallies as to not get caught by fishing partner). Spinnerbaits have great vibs, are extreemly weedless, can be fished any depth, single hooks penetrate awesome and make for quick clean releases. Thanks in advance for any contacts on who will be able to make some of these up. Edited by lobi 1/4/2004 11:52 PM

Posts: 32885 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | lobi, My son owns Violent Strike Lures, and can make literally anythig you wish. He custom builds every spinnerbait he sells. Let me know how many, what color, and exactly what size hooks and blades, plus blade styles and he will quote you a price and build them for you. I have some smaller Violent Strikes made from .045, I think, and they are tough as nails.

Posts: 1335 Location: Chicago, Beverly | I've got a friend up in wisconsin that makes some real nice baits. You could buy them online from e-baits.com or if you wish to try him direct I could dig up his info and e-mail it to you . Let me know if you want me to do that. Here is a link to his stuff on e-bait: http://www.ebait.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=h... http://www.ebait.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=h... http://www.ebait.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=h... The Musky sized one is only available in the double spin. The weights listed are not quite correct as they were weighed with just the spinnerbait form, no snaps, blades, or dressing on the bait. I forgot to add the "3/8oz" bait actually weighs about a 1/2oz. The Musky sized one weighs about 1 1/2oz. Edited by kevin 1/5/2004 10:32 AM

Posts: 1916 Location: Greenfield, WI | Steve's son's spinnerbaits come in both right and left handed models, suitable for casting into shadows, bright sun shine, or any place in between, they work in waves, in calm, with weeds, in timber, pretty much everywhere! Mr. Lobi, you had better get some before the WDNR bans them! I have used them for years, with the only problem being that all the components are water soluable! You can only cast them once...maybe twice, before they self destruct.........Just kidding! They are a excellent very durable bait.

Posts: 2024 | Lobi, You might want to check out Grim Reaper's line of spinnerbaits. They have a Little Hot One in a 1/2 oz. size with .040 wire (I believe). Check out their website for more specifics. It's a muskie geared spinnerbait, just downsized a little. Hope this helps!

Posts: 380 Location: Michigan | Try this guy... I found him a few years ago on another discussion board (Bass Fishing Home Page). The guys on that site spoke highly of his spinnerbaits. I have since purchased about 30 in 1/2 and 3/4 ounce that I use for pike. I have him build them out of .041 wire, twisted eye, sampo swivels, and various custom colors. He will make anything you want. I have been pleased and they seem to hold up to the riggers of Ontario and Manitoba pike fishing quite well. http://soblures.com/products/products.php
