I won't swear to it, but it seems like I heard the cb has bushings rather than bearings like the C4.

I'm with Schuler, I think CB is the Cabela's house version. I have a 5600CB that came from them. If I remember right, it was basically identical to the C4 when I comparision shopped. I'm real happy with it except that the gearing is a bit too high for anything much beyond a Mepps #5, so I use mine for bass or burning small bucktails and lipless cranks. Look on Cabela's website for the specs--I know that reel is featured on the back pages as part of a Cabela's combo special a lot.

I know the "star" series had bushings, they are the red and/or green ones that you see on cheaper combos at mom & pop baitstores all the time. Also, I think there's a 7000B that has bushings in it.

yeah i guess all the cbs have thumbars unlike the c4s. i got a response back from cabelas on this. so it IS an abu-garcia reel? and not a cabelas brand reel? just has the cabelas label slapped on it...?

Oops, Shuler I bet your right, that was the b model I was thinking of rather than the cb. I knew there was one of them that had bushings rather than bearings and looked pretty much the same on the outside.

The Cabelas CB's are the Abu Garcia C4 reel only with a Thumb bar spool release and in the color red. I just ordered some replacement parts for my CB reels and they are the same guts as C4.

I love these reels! I think they are the best value for the dollar reel on the market. I have (2) 6600's and (2) 5600's. If you don't like the 6.3:1 gear ratio, just order a set of gears in either the 5.3:1 or 3.8:1.

..and in the 5600 (I'm casting a 5601) you get both the Thumbar (like the 4600) and the Line out alarm (clicker like the 6600). Caster, sucker soaker , or trolling reel all in one!!!
