You should name that cedar lake resort - they don’t deserve our business.

You can find it...Lois Lane was there one time. I never knew Superman in his disguised form would not roll over deposits at his remotely located camp. I did see on his slip for deposit that it says in the bottom fine print "deposits are non-refundable." Suffice it to say if they cannot be rolled over, they should specify this as well..

Clark's resort, eh?

Sounds like they are counting on either going out of business or when things open up, full camps everywhere like MN this year. I know after seeing this I'd not want to stay there.

I asked my financial advisor to recommend stock in companies that make freezers that can maintain temp of minus 103 F, since most doctors and pharmacies don't have them and that is what the vaccine needs to be held at. No response yet

Dry ice may be another good investment. I believe they are saying 90% effective in the trials but with these storage requirements and 2 shots required I will be curious how effective it will be away from the trials.

Yes, dry ice is going to be high demand as well.

I do think it will be effective when given to the general public. Listened to a lengthy interview about the steps they took to make sure volunteers looked like the general public, right down to getting the right percentage of minorities, people with co-morbidities like diabetes, high blood pressure, obesity, advanced age, etc. I guess the question will be if people will be willing to get the vaccine. The flu kills a lot of elderly folks every year, yet many do get the flu shot, even though most Medicare supplement plans pay for the high dose vaccine given those of us over 65. I am sure they will stress when people get the first dose that if they don't get the second it will not be effective. Seems that if people commit to the first dose, they will get the second, at least in most cases. I know I will.

You are correct my friend!!

Was over on Walleyecentral (Yes...I apologize for going wayard from here) and one guy lost $1800 as he paid the deposits for his group of 9 I believe...

I can see not refunding....but at least roll it over for the following year.

My gut says they'll be out of business as well...

Steve

Do you think fishing will be amazing once it opens with the border shut down as long as it has? Guessing most of the pressure is from US fisherman.

Not looking very good for a lot of the resorts relying on fishermen and hunters from the U.S.
Hope they can hold on,.... But, for another year ??

I have family in Canada, and a LOTW trip planned for July, so I keep a close eye on the border situation. Based on a recent survey, the vast majority of Canadians want to keep the border closed "until the number of cases in the U.S. significantly drops" and "80 per cent of Canadians surveyed supported the idea of keeping the Canada-U.S. border closed, 11 per cent somewhat support the idea". It would be political suicide for a Canadian politician to advocate to open the border in the near term.

To put number of infections in a Canadian vs USA in context, Illinois has 1/3 the population of Canada but has more infections, deaths, and a higher positivity rate. Gov. Pritzker is expected to ease restrictions soon as Canada tightens theirs.

I'm not saying who has the right approach, just that Canadians are much more cautious about Covid than are most Americans. Here's a link to the article:

Wonder if the Canadian Border might open for U.S. citizens who can present proof they have been vaccinated?

That has been my thought as well North... It would be beneficial for the resort community, even though many Americans would still not have their vaccinations before summer, unless vaccination centers significantly increase in abundance and vaccine is available in plentiful enough amounts.

Better to have a smattering of business come than none at all I'd think, unless the income is not pacing with cost...
