| Air temps in WI are warming up this week with highs in the 60s.. What's the fishing forecast look like next weekend right before they drop again? Is the warming a good thing to get metabolisms going? Do fish move shallow or stay on the deep breaks? |

| in general unseasonably warm weather late fall is not a good thing..but you also can't catch them on the couch..

| It makes for some very pleasant fishing. That said, it's been my experience that a warm up late in the fall shuts the fish right down. We've had SOME luck fishing shallow over not-totally-dead weeds. (if you can find any) Seems like a steady drop in surface temps and a NW wind is what you want late in the fall. The S/SW winds and associated warm temps that follow do not make for productive fishing. Sure is nice out there on those days, though. |

Location: Chisholm, MN | The far north is only going to benefit from the warmth by extending the season. I don’t think the bite will slow either since it would take a lot of warm temps to move the water temperature significantly this time of year. But since the rut is on, who cares?!?! |

We're looking at highs in the 60's all week in Madison.
It seems to me like the best chance would be early morning when the temps are lowest or at the very least plateau'd before increasing during the afternoon. I'll likely give it a shot with some suckers in a traditional fall spot then move to see if there's any weeds when I inevitably don't see any fish. Not planning on giving it more than a few hours either morning Sat and Sun. |

Regarding water temps, I think this is spot on. With lakes turned over, and the extended, unusual cold, throughout mid to late October, the water temps are probably not going to fluctuate much beyond the top foot or so, even with an extended warm up. The sun angle has become low enough that it is not very efficient, and theses projected temps, are only going to be for a few hours in the late afternoon each day. Nights are still going to cool pretty well, also.
To me, the big negative is the wind direction. I know that wind direction can effect even deep fish. The question is which will be the most dominant factor. I have no clue. Not sure where the cisco spawn is on the various lakes, but if they have spawned on a given lake, I would look for ciscos out away from the spawning grounds, in deep water, and fish around them. If they haven't spawned on a give lake, I would look closer to the spawning grounds, and do the same.
I have no idea how it may play out on a given lake, but if you aren't out there, you won't find out.

Thinking about taking my kayak out for a paddle on Friday or Saturday. Just for fun, no fishing rods but like you say how often can you get on the water in N. WI with these kinds of temps? And yes, it will be a long winter. |

Location: Stevens Point, Wi. | The warm spell didn't do much to warm the water. Temperature in the Wisconsin river at Tomahawk yesterday was 35 degrees. Air temps. in afternoon at70. Great day to be on the water. |

| I'll be out on Monona this weekend in Madison, which according to USGS hit a low of 39 on Monday and hit 48 yesterday. I usually fish up north but the boat is back home for the winter. That's why I'm a little more concerned how this may impact the fish. |

| No action in Madison on Sunday morning. Saw one porpoise at the surface over shallow weeds. Weeds were all green even with water temps at 47. Very surprising. I think I'm done for the season. Time to prep for deer season, then ice fishing, then trout C&R season, then multispecies in the spring, and back to musky in July. |
