Location: Ohio | I spend 90% of my time bass fishing and never really targeted muskies before but got the urge for some reason. Thought it might be cool to get my first muskie on a bait I made. So I came up with a 5” 2.9” squarebill crankbait (my inner bass fisherman). Dives to about 7-8” on a cast in my kayak. My first muskie trip before sunlight I toss it a few feet from the shore to test the action and see a nice muskie through the light of my headlamp follow and hit it a foot from the beach. Tossed it again and it hit one more time but didn’t connect. That was enough to get me hooked.

Location: Ohio | Thanks a lot guys. Been out a couple times since with no luck just saw a few surfacing. I made a 6” vertical jigging bait that I broke off on my first trip. Got it unstuck from some submerged trees a few time and an anchor rope once with the 44mag but it must have gotten wrapped around a branch and the 44mag snapped the line. Next bait is going to be a 6” glider then some inline spinners for the first time. I’m all in on getting my first musky on a homemade this fall.
