Location: Chicago, Beverly | It is a shame these people that put on the shows can never work together to have just one BIG, BAD A$$ show rather then split the exhibitors between the two. So now I've got the Chicago Musky show at Harper, the "Ed Shirley Show" at Arlington Park, the "Rosemont convention center show" and the all canada show all in about a 2 week time frame. The Tinley and Lockport shows in february. And now this show in march?... I just looked for Info on the Shirley show at Arlington, it looks like they finally lost to the Rosemont show and cancelled their own at arlington. Almost forgot, the two Milwaukee shows are a weekend apart? Looks like they can't work together either. oh well.... |

Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | Sport and Fishing shows are businesses, guys. If the market/industry supports the idea, and both are successful, then the American economy is doing exactly what it was designed to do. I like the specific shows like the Walleye Expo and the Muskie Shows, because I know who should be exhibiting and won't have to wade through jewelry, broom, and cooking pan booths to find a fishing item on display. A MEGA show might be a good concept, but the exhibitors would probably do there what they did at Rosemont, cut back or disappear in preference to smaller shows where their products are better presented. Another issue: Many shows are exclusive about who can buy space, especially in the large retail store and boat catagories. That drives other promoters to add a show to entice the vendors excluded from one show to attend theirs. |

At Least $10 to get into each, $20 total plus gas, two wasted weekends rather then one. This guy only getting a table at this one, the other guy at the other show.. Anyone ever here of comparison shopping? This is a old story in Chicago, just a few years ago you had the big 3 with the regular shows. McCormick Place, Rosemont and the "Shirley" Show. How many are left this year? Rosemont. Yeah, that show at arlington park by the Shirley's People held on for a bit, they even broke down and let competing stores have booths there. Gone now. I like the idea of the Musky only show. Nothing wrong with that. It is just why have two? I can see having one in Milwaukee, one in Madison, one in Minn., one in Ohio, one in Chicago, etc.. but why have two in chicago or anywhere else? Sorry for ranting on about this... |

Location: Chicago | Last year was nice spent the morning at the Fly fishing show and the Pm at the musky show. This year it is on different weekends. Too bad they dont line up more shows together. |

| There is a long list of people waiting to get a booth at the Chicago musky show. There is a definite need for another and/or bigger musky show. The Extreme show is almost two months after the Tri Esox show. I’m sure people will welcome this last chance before the season shopping spree. And let’s not forget the best reason to go to the new Extreme show … BEER! |

Location: oswego, il | I am all for more musky shows. Wi needs two, detroit area needs one, maybe indiana too. BRING THEM ON! I think the extreme show is going to be good competition and make both shows better. A win for us.
Wi, had two musky shows, problem was they were both in milwaukee. The smart thing would have been to run that second show in madison or gren bay.
The arlington show was running it's course. It was great the first two years and was getting worse after that. I doubt I would have gone this year.

Location: Chicago, Beverly | For Indiana I would think holding it in South Bend somewhere would be better, since the lakes aren't too far from there. No point in holding one in western Indiana with the two in Illiois only a easy drive across the boarder.. I don't think having two shows will make them both better. That is what hurt the original second Musky show around chicago. That is why the arlington show started going down hill. I've got enough money to spend at one musky show, it would be nice if everything was there instead of at two shows. Was talking to someone at Ed Shirley's today, they can't even get a booth at the Tri-Esox show at Harper. They may try the other one if there is room they said. But hey, maybe I should stop b/tching..lol..wasn't it only about ten years ago there were NO Musky shows in the chicago area? |

Location: Genoa City, WI | I remember way back when the Rosemont show was the place to be. For those who wanted to do so, there was at least a 45 minute wait just for the trout pond!
Every bait manufacturer was there as well as all the rod/reel/depthfinder and all the others too.
No salsa makers, ladders, jewelry, clothing, flea market type booths. Just solid fishing and hunting and 2 floors worth!
Ahhhh... those were the days!

| You're right Rob! At the risk of dating myself, I too remember when the Rosemont show was the absolute highlight of the winter season. Tackle, resort, gear, etc. making it an almost mandatory two day occasion.
I suppose though, with the recent interest in muskie fishing, and the willingness of anglers to attend these venues, the popularity of species specific shows make more sense.
But, I am gonna tell you, the very first time I see a vege-matic at show, it will be my last!!!
Now, the pocket fisherman, thats a different story! (LOL)

Location: Chicago | I kind of put the end of the great days of the Rosemont show at around the time that Dan's Tackle quit attending the show. There used to be so many good small vendors there in the old days. After that it became mopre about the big marketers and the show lost a lot of its luster.

The arlington show got sorse the year before it was on the same weekend as the tri-esox show. Vendors were already pulling out.
The two chicago musky shows are far apart in time from each other, not two weeks apart like the two wi shows were. I am going to both. I hope there is a swap meet for both.
If anybody wants the name to mexican food restaurant X for the extreme show, let me know. Better authentic mexican food you will not find, reasonable too. |

Location: Algonquin, ILL | I used to go to the Rosemont Show but prices have gotten out of hand last time I was there about 5 years ago it was $8.00 to get in and $10.00 parking that's $18.00 just to get in the door add to that over priced Drink and food, and then lures and other equipment that was only slightly under MSR and the unbeliveable crowds, the only good thing about the Rosemont show was the seminars if you could get into one.
