| Have had good luck with the Suick but wondering if anyone can give advice on how to prevent fouling a 9 inch suick with the leader when casting. I have used both flouro and solid wire and both weighted and non-weighted versions. I am doing light musky fishing with a heavy action fenwick rod and spinning reel. Could it be the spinning reel that is the issue? Thanks for any advice. Love this lure and fish/action I have been getting but want to be more productive. |

Definately. The fact that a spinning reel 'opens up' freely, vs a more controlled cast afforded by a casting reel, could be the issue. Try to 'lay' it out there with a smooth release and not let it tumble through the air. Also experiment with holding your hand near the line, feathering it as it feeds out, controlling the cast, as this will simulate casting reel tension. |

| Try slowly slowing to stopping the bait just before it lands with one finger. This would be easier with bait casting reel. |

Location: SE, WI. | Yep, these prior postS have it right....agreed. Get a bait casting reel. Better leverage on retrieve, also better leverage on Hook Sets. And use the solid single strand wire!
Save that spinning gear for your Small buck tails, small twitch baits, and your Jig & Creature presentations ... JD
