Any recommendations on good lodging and location for first week in august? Which portion of flowage should be best. First time on the flowage so any help is appreciated.

Check with the Hayward Chamber of Commerce for lodging info. Over the years, I have mostly fished the east side of cc. Most of the famous bars are located on the east, including Pete's,Lil Pete's, Flemings, Risberg, Sherman's, Church and Cranberry's. All, at the right time, have produced trophy fish. I've stayed at Treeland's, Herman's , Rand R Bayview, Clements, no longer there, Baumgartner's, also no longer there and Deerfoot. Tree land's and Deerfoot are top notch. If it is your first time out, Hire a guide! And obtain a good topo. map because of the underwater hazards. Good Luck. A great body of water. Kdawg

I haven't stayed at the resorts, so can only comment on location. I have fished the Chip alot, and I would say Deerfoot is an awesome location.

While I've never stayed there Herman's would be great due to its central location to all the famous fishing spots. To me, the Chp is not a numbers body of water. Great scenery and atmosphere but don't be disappointed if you don't see any fish.

Most places are pretty much booked up for the next 2 weeks or so, but if you want a nice place to lay your head at night, try the Chip Wa Motel, they are very reasonably priced, and there is a place to hook your boat at night to charge your batteries. Not far from the Hay Creek launch, or the launch by the landing depending on your preference. If your not an early riser, be aware, the sun will wake you up through the curtain as they face east.

Otherwise, your next best bet might be in town, or you just need to start calling around to resorts to see if they have anything open. Treelands / Deerfoot are good places I have stayed at and both have motels, not sure if they are available though.

Good Luck
