I have the opportunity to take the family up to Pokegama Lake (by the Lac de Flambeau tribal casino) in August. I’m not familiar with the area or any of the connected lakes. While I’d love to have my 9 year old hook into a nice musky, any suggestions or hints would be appreciated. Also, any place to launch? I’ve found very little online. If you’d rather not share publicly, please feel free to pm me.

Last year we fished Big Arb for our family vacation and were skunked, so I would welcome any tips to make this more fun for the kids. Thank you.

I would recommend the large town launch by the campground - right across the street from the casino. It's really the only safe launch for an outsider. Good parking, well lit, but there is a fee. Up until a couple weeks ago, LDF had closed all their launches to prevent people from bringing COVID to their community.

By using this launch you have the option to go three directions - Flambeau, Pokegama, or Long (Interlaken). All three lakes meet at the bay where the launch is. And all three are good options. Down the chain, Big Crawling Stone, Little Crawling Stone and Fence have never done much for me.

I wouldn't consider it stellar numbers, but there are definitely quality muskies in there. Clear water so the weeds grow deep. Some places out to 18 FOW. Natural colors, and/or silver bladed bucktails. In August fish the deep weed edges, humps, and deep side of breaks.

if you are planning to fish those for a week or even a few days. My recommendation would be to hire Doug Smith for a day. he knows that water as well as anyone. I think you can get in touch with him by calling Rollie and Helens musky shop.

I appreciate the responses. Knowing that the LDF could possibly close the launch and then I’m stuck in a cottage fishing off of the pier is making me rethink this. I’ll get ahold of Doug Smith. Thanks guys

I'd stay off rez. Ive hear they still have launched closed to no rezidents. Look boulder junction area. A ton of smaller action lake if you want your boy to hook up.

I called the Reservation office and was told that the launch at the campground is open for use but there is a $10 fee to launch.

Hope that helps and good luck
