Fishless since early March, went 3 for 5 today with 2 more missed due to slow hooksets. All on baby depth raiders or lil’ ernies banging off of shallow rocks. All caught 1 hour either side of moon rise.

Up until today I was 0 for 1 and only 2 follows. Hallelujah! Also busted some schooling white bass early to break the boredom of casting open water. Casting small rat-l-traps on musky gear isn’t easy.

I had been using wire leaders almost exclusively this year but switched back to fluorocarbon today. Don’t know if that made a difference or not.

I feels yer pain. 21 days on the water, one 30" rattlebait fish in the net.
Moved quite a few, lost a couple real good ones, considering golf. m

I was talking to myself yesterday (I do that a lot) and said I’m selling all my gear and boat after almost 4 months of nothing (wouldn’t really do that). Then it all comes together and it’s a whole different outlook. Unfortunately, I jacked my back up netting the first fish so I’m out of action for a while.

Congrats on breaking your slump. I hope your backs heals fast while your pattern is still working.

Heck yea, feels great to break a cold streak! Hope it was on CC because you've certainly put your time in there.

Mikie please do not take up golf, just give me half the money you're going to spend on clubs and I'll kick you in the n*ts. Not nearly as expensive or painful if you go that route.

Yes, it was CC. And yes, I've had many days of blanks starting in early March. The lake has been strange this year but things have changed (not all for good, though).

My back was feeling better, and since both my wife's trip to Myrtle Beach and mine to FL to see my daughter were cancelled due to this bs virus, we both hit the lake today. I just got her a fishing license last night since she hasn't gone out this year. I missed one 20 mins after starting on a lazy 8, then popped a 35". One cast after releasing it, she catches it's twin. 35", her first ever!!! I was more excited than she was. She then lost a BIG fish, thought she was snagged (why do they do that?!).

I lost a good one then I caught a 41" about an hour later. Things slowed down so I opted to hit one more spot before it got too hot (water and air). She missed another then i got hammered by a 36" missile. We called it a day as both temps were too high.

That was the good. 7 fish on two days out. The bad is the water is getting too warm about 5 hours after sunrise. We had a heavy fog early that kept the sun away today. But 90's are forecast for the next 5-6 days. We need some good storms to cool the water down but they keep missing the lake. CC can be outstanding when it gets warm and the thermocline comes up to about 15-20' and keeps them fish shallow. Come on rain!
