Location: north central wisconsin | Heya, I'm presently running a 60/40 merc jet on a 1756 Allweld mod v jon. While a bit rear end heavy(I intend to add float pods), there is no performance issue. Unless going with an older 2 stroke motor, I would not put anything larger than a 60/40 on that boat. If it's a tiller, you may need/want trim tabs or pods/sponsons for ride/draft, but that sounds like a fine rig. My 1756 gets on plane with ease with my family of 5 and fishing gear(wife, self, daughters 6, 12, 14), and with one or two guys and i/musky gear, I run 25mph up river/26-30 down. Good luck and have fun with your new rig. |
