I live in Maryland. Not exactly the Muskie capital of the world (or anywhere else). However, I'm nuts about the sport (we have Tigers only in Maryland) and enjoy sports shows. We've got some great Bass shows here, but no Musky stuff. Harrisburg, Pa seems to have less and less each year for Muskies, so I most likely won't go there this year. Is it worth a 10-12 drive to go to this show?
Thanks-Tom

Tom, if you go let me know....maybe I could meet you on the way up + clean out "old green" + ditch him on the side of the road![;)] If at all possible I may try to go to that one or maybe the Milwaukee one....would be much easier to fly.....would be neat to meet the prowlers of the great white north + sit at their feet + learn their techniques...their odd ways......to leave the upper country more confident.....better able to face our failures w/ a new determination + to spend all our hard earned $$$ + return home broke + find out Sponge Babe eloped w/ her boyfriend....I can see it now.....I''m walking down main street w/ a bottle of NIGHT TRAIN in 1 hand + a block of Gov''t cheese in the other.....she + her new boyfriend ride by in a convertible + toot the horn.....I''m on my way!!!!![:sun:]

If there one show to see then the Chicago one is it. I drove 14 hours last year and loved it. I also flew to the MN and it was also a good show but not as big as the Chicago one. I am flying up this year as my left buttocks as not yet forgiven me for the 28+ hours of driving over a weekend.[:sun:]

That's settled. Muskykid and spongebob are coming. Maybe you can pick up drew in penslvania. Yes. Yes. Yes. It's a great show. It's not as big as an all encompasing outdoor show but it's all musky stuff. There are great seminars, tackle, merchandise, product booths, you name it. There is an hour long conversation waiting for you inevery isle. Did I mention boats and tackle shops? Magazines? Celebrities?

Muskykid, with a web site as good as yours, maybe you should have a booth. I would certainly visit.[:sun:]

Tom, let us consider driving up...tomyv could drive unless I can get a fake license! We could load up on Pay Days, Jr. Mints + fill a cooler w/ Coke Colas + hyper blast up that way....if Rich is going to fly we could drive to the airport + then there would be 4 lost peeps instead of 3...by the time the show pops up we'll be BURNED OUT from thinking about it.....[:sun:]

Muskiekid I go to all three muskie shows,,chicago is the biggest and Minn might be the funnest,,but it is worth the effort to attend. Just keep in mind that they are not has big has traditional sportshows that have RV,s camping, fishing etc but everything that is there is musky related. Also after the show we have a swap meet at a local bar and it is a good time. The show is held at a very nice arena and this year they will have a pool demo for baits, these are always fun and helpful because you get to see lures in the water and tips on how to work them. Besides,,, Chicago style deep dish pizza is worth the trip alone.

I really like the Chicago show, Steve and the gentlemen there put on a class event, as does Doug and Paul. They ALL are worth the travel.[8)]

I have to agree with happy hooker. I loved all the shows but it seemed like a looser crowd at the mineapolis show. I think it's because so many more people traveled to get there and were just looking to party and have a good time. I did just that.

If you are looking for the hostess with the mostess then goto the chicago show.

Hello Tom,

Chicago Show is a very good show and this year they will have pool side demo's but I will not be jumping in after any 51" incher like I did on Minnetonka this year. I would like to put a picture with a person I have talked too but please make sure you bring some Fresh Donuts.[:p] & Decaff Coffee. Let me know if you need a place to stay?

SPongester, been away working for awhile. I plan on going, I don't know if i'm flying or driving. My girlfriend's dad works for us airways, so I am trying to squander some free tickets from him at the moment. If I can't get him into my scheme, then we'll be driving. IT's about 7 hrs from here.

Hey Rick if I was you I would do a search on the internet right now for great deals on flights. I am flying to and from the Chicago show for $230. That's less the the cost of gas to drive down there. You can lookup sidestep or expedia for the best deals out there. You can hook up with others to split a room close to the show.[:sun:]

what's a good cheap hotel to stay at near the show? Has anyone decided where the lure swap is going to be? Just wondering. Spongester and Tom, you guys are more than welcome to ride up with me. As long as you can handle the country music. I think drew is way east of me, but if he can make it to the burg, he can jump in to. Chicago or Bust.

Dude, lets start letting our hair grow, stuff a ruck + hitch hike.....great way to see the country + meet some new people! If we are REALLY lucky we won't get picked up by any weirdos as they SHOULD be at the show![;)] On second thought.......[:0] [:sun:]

the only problem that I can see with that idea is that once we make it out of pennsylvania, people may think we're the weirdos with 3 layers of thermal on, and coonskin caps holding a cardboard sign that says chicago or bust in the middle of January on the side of the road with you trying to show some leg to get a ride! But it's worth a try.

Rich, what are the exact dates of the show in Chicago? I think the vacation roster comes out in Nov....tomy, maybe we had better ride/drive....how far out of P-burg are you? I was in Beaver Valley/Aliquippa in ''72 but I''m sure it has changed since then.....I''ll try to get Dad to have AAA Auto send him a map for the routes...[:sun:]
Heading upstairs....will check back in tomorrow morning 5:30a.m......[::)] [:0] [:sun:]

sponge, I'm about 40 miles south of pittsburgh, in Washington, PA. It's down in the south western tip of the state, not that far from WV. Where are you in Virginia. You can go to www.lycos.com, and click on maps, type in where your at and where your going and it will give you directions.

Never have been one for going to Chicago...just doesn't do much for me. But, if all you guys are going you can 90% count me in. Shouldn't be too hard taking a day off in February.

Sponge, now you got me thinking here. Your not gonna show us any leg at the show are you?? Just make sure you shave first. If one thing grosses me out it hairy legged men in thongs.... YUUUUUKKK!!![:knockout:]
