I am glad you got out to experience it. No reason to stay home and hide.

Just bought a 16ft sylvan with a 45hp Honda 4 stroke on it as a river/small water boat and took it out for the first time this weekend. Boat appeared to be in super nice shape so I had pretty high expectations. Well a couple minutes into the trip on the mississippi I noticed that it was peeing super weak, only dribbling at times. The previous owner had just had it at a mechanic and had everything checked and some stuff replaced, and claimed that the motor always had a weak stream unless you were on plain, but I’m still concerned about it. Other great thing I noticed is that if you step on the floor above the gas tank just wrong it will squirt gas out of the gas tanks aeration port on the side of the boat. Needless to say this thing will need a little work, but I can’t complain for the 3k I paid for it. At least the interior is in good shape haha.

My understanding is the water coming out the side of the motor is really just there to tell you the the pump is working the majority of the water comes out the exhaust. As for the gas when you step on the floor maybe that is a extra primer bulb ??

I’m really not too worried about the lack of water as it’s only a 45 horse and there easily could just be some weeds in the intake. I have no idea about the gas though, my buddy and I are going to take to floor panel off tomorrow and do some digging, hopefully we can solve it. Just got a new motorguide xi5 for it today, never owned a motorguide myself but I’ve always really liked the ones I’ve used on friends boats. Worst case I can always sell it and get a terrova instead.
