Posts: 45 | I was wondering what the scarcity of these lures is. I'm from the east, so there are not many muskie tackle shops. Is this collectible? or something that is fairly common? Brand new, never fished. Attachments ---------------- ![]()

Posts: 2284 Location: SE, WI. | If there’s a concave area in lip, and has m-9 on lip, you have a gem. Their not made any more and usually can sell for $30-$45 new. JD

That does not look like an original oldie. Eyes should bug out along with concave lip

Is it made out of wood or plastic?

Posts: 45 | I believe this was made before the concave lip and the bulging eye. This bait and this box hasn't been made for a long time. It was molded plastic and the mold was made by Main Street Molds in Ohio. The lip has 3 vertical reinforcements in it.

Posts: 45 | I also have some original Jake Satonica wood 13" baits, but I know they are rare. I don't know what they are worth, but they catch big fish. Attachments ---------------- ![]()

Posts: 45 | A couple of ways you can tell it's an original: 1) there are 4 hook hangers, it was allowed back then 2) The paint, these colors eventually made it to the production of plastic models 3) The wire is copper. Jake wanted his lures to be easy to adjust. Copper bends easier which makes it less likely to crack the wood when bending the wire. Construction is also easier 4) Many have epoxy where the hook wear marks are. Jake used to just fill in the wear marks, let them dry and put them back in the water. Jake is an exceptional fisherman and sportsman. I learned a lot from him and will be forever grateful for what he shared over the years.

Posts: 45 | Mostly basswood, although there are probably some baits out there made of something else.
