i want to use 2 locators in my boat (one for me @ transom and one for 2nd guy sitting up front) in the back i want a x97 thats for sure but nowdays most units are 200khz and using 2 at the same time will give interferance

the locator up front doesnt have to be a expensive unit (x47, fisheasy etc)
i was thinking 192khz and 200khz wil that also interfere? (than the x97 and fisheasy could be an option)
and i could buy the x98DF(dual frew 50/200) but then i have to put the x98 on 50khz wich i dont want and its more expensive

so far i cant find an answer to my questions, anyone have a solution or something?

kind regards Ted
(sorry for bad spelling/grammar)

I have a 19.5' boat and have the same locaters (Garmin 240's) on both ends of the boat. I have never had interferance problems even over deep water.

I know some people have had problems and some not, with all makes.

For the most part I am inclined to think that you could still run the same locaters (2 high end ones so you both have a good clear view) vs. running a "lower quality" unit up front for your buddy.

Demoman,

I understand the concerns you have and I even recall hearing the same comment from the Lowrance rep who was featured in a "guest chat" here last winter. Having said all that, I fished with Ace (Terry Sjoberg) on Lake Vermilion this past July and I'm 99% sure he had (2) X-15's in his boat. Hopefully he will see this post and confirm. I'll shoot him a note.

regards from the west.....

I have Eagle magna II plus and the Raytheon 365 and have not noticed interferance..even got them hooked up to one battery most of the time and that should cause interferance according to the manuals.

Ted,

Here's the link to transcripts of the old "Lowrance rep" chat from last December. You might find it helpful.....

i contact some shops here and also they say it "can" happen
so i guess i can try it just a shame if it wouldn work

and its not that my buddy doesnt deserve a good unit up front more like he doesnt need the detail and i fish with several buddy's and i have 2 pay for it all

Hey Demonman,
The Dawg was right, I run 2 X15's on my boat without any problems.
However, the bow unit is connected to a built in transducer on my Minnkota.

I run an X-15 on the console(transom mounted x-ducer), and an X-51 on the TM with Universal sonar. No problems with interference until I get in to deeper water, say 30'. But even then, it's not really a problem. I just get some vertical lines on the X-15.

in my case i want to put 2 transducers on the transom (left and right side of outboard) and im putting a transducer on the tm but that one will only be used when others are off(one of the 2 units will go on bow then)

There was an article in B&W Boats about a year ago, about the Glovigan's using 2 or more sonars at the same time. Several Transom mounted X-ducers. The did get some inteference, but they make it work for them.
