Location: Athens, Ohio | I used one of these on my 225 ProMax for several years. Swivl-Eze Lock 'N Stow Motor Stabilizer Lock - Model 10108 Expect, now, a discussion about which is better: a support ("transom saver") that anchors the lower unit to the trailer, or one of these locks which lets he LU hang free, locking the motor in closer to the transom. Popcorn, pls! m

Posts: 489 Location: Northern Illinois | LOL! mikie you are absolutely right! As for me I'm in this camp: https://www.amazon.com/Yamaha-MAR-MTSPT-YM-10-RAM-TILT-MARMTSPTYM10/... BTW I have a Merc 150 Verado and use one support even though there is room for 2 on the advice of the dealer. I've had no issues. Edited by RLSea 1/27/2020 6:04 PM

Posts: 3480 Location: Elk River, Minnesota | Hiya, Much of this can be somewhat dependent on boat manufacturer as well, so it is something to consider when selecting a transom support. If you have an aluminum boat, most (if my memory serves me correctly) will recommend using a transom support that ties directly to the trailer as this will stop any sort of flex on the transom itself when boat is being towed. Some will argue this doesn't happen, and some will. The boats are built strong enough to withstand a good bouncing (just watch your motor sometime as you travel down the lake in waves). The big thing is, when you tilt the motor though, the lower unit is now away from the transom and that enhances the amount of bounce the motor can have on the road. Taking that vibration and stabilizing it at the trailer keeps it from happening. On many fiberglass boats, the transoms are built with extensive support from the transom forward, but still benefit from the same stabilization. Many of these, though, one can get away with the wedge-style as the transom area is much much smaller for the main motor, so flexing is reduced significantly (a way to think about it....take a 2" x 10" x 7 ft and stand on it between two supports at the end, then support it in the middle separated by about 2 feet.) No matter what you choose to use, stabilizing is a good thing...anything that locks the tilted lower unit down is better than nothing at all. If you are in the twin cities area, I have a trailer stabilizer I no longer need. It goes over a back roller, then up to the lower unit. It's yours if you want it.... PM if interested. Posts: 13 | I appreciate the offer but unfortunately I am in SW Pa I should have said that i have a 1875 pro v bass on a shorelander bunk trailer My old boat had a roller at the back of trailer to attatch motor support, this one does not. Does some one make a support bracket the attaches to trailer frame? Thanks everyone for the help

Posts: 3480 Location: Elk River, Minnesota | Hiya, Cabelas does not seem to have this model anymore, but amazon does. https://www.amazon.com/Extreme-Max-3001-1068-Adjustable-Universal/dp... This is the model I used on my shoreland'r trailers. It attaches using the single bolt that holds the rear pad on the trailer in the center. This is a good heavy duty bracket and is highly adjustable. Steve

Posts: 489 Location: Northern Illinois | Wedges that center the motor and keep it from turning right or left during travel on the trailer are important too. Balance is the key. Whether you use a wedge in the ram or a support that hooks to the trailer, balance the weight of the motor over the transom by tilting it so that its force is focused straight down on the transom.

Posts: 217 Location: Downers Grove, IL | I also use MY Wedge to support 200HP Merc on my 2025 Impact, as well as those heavy duty rubber sleeve things that fit over each side of the stainless steel shafts on the hydraulic steering; to keep the motor centered while trailering. Zero issues.

Posts: 1036 | I use the Swivel EZE. They make different models to fit different engines. Mine holds a 225 Optimax. The thing I like about Swivel EZE is that it is very easy to put on and get off, and it keeps the motor from moving while towing. I had a wedge that I used, but getting those brackets in place to keep it from moving left or right was kind of a pain in the rear. https://www.westmarine.com/attwood--swivl-eze-lock-n-stow-motor-supp...

Posts: 526 | You could always go the redneck route of a piece of 2x4 between the motor and the bracket and trim down until it’s tight...
