Is it just me or do all the floating weeds that get torn up on these busy weekends by all the pleasure boaters that end up floating on the surface only to foul up my baits when casting, bug the crap out of you guys to.
If it does is there anything you do or try to help your lures (especially topwater) get through it with out fouling up. Or do you find yourself wanting to break your favorite rod over the gunnal of your boat after every cast!

Bill,my solution for that problem is a Mister-Twister Top Prop!It stays relativly weedless and works excellent at night when you can`t steer your top-water around the crapola.Great pad bait too!And it hooks better and has action/sound way over a sloppe pig,but that pig also has its place in my tactics.I up size the grub to a mogambo though(black)Try it once its a 12$ investment.Jeff []

Bill,
I have at times added a threeway swivel 25 inches up the line, hung a 5 inch peice of 7 strand wire, then at the end will have a Teasertail with a modified tail hook, eremove the trebble and add a Grubtail with a 7/0 single hook.Between the hanging wire catching weeds first and the weeds slideing to the end of the wire before falling off,the Teasertail getts past before they rise back toward the surface, the action of the Grubtail not only adds action to the Teasertail, but shakes off weeds as well and keeps the tail up for a lot louder sounding plop noise.Go with all Black color Teasertail with a bright white Grubtail and hole punched glow dots placed upon the body. I was out on the madison chain this spring and noticed all the pleasureboat activity in shallow water. By the afternoon the lake became unfishable due to the choped up weeds. Seen this on the fox chain too. I think they are doing it on purpose.

Not a surface bait but a silver minnow spoon will work and so will a sloppee pig.

A Violent Strike Magnum Buzzer goes right through the crud on the top.

Take a rubber band and fasten a small piece of dowl abut three feet in front of your lure!
Just heard about it says it works great for trolling should work for casting to.
