| Phil Schweik woke on the morning of Ocotober 25th preparing for the biggest day of his life, his marrige to his future wife Rhonda. He was pleased with the fishing success from the day before when wife to be caught a 10 pound 30.25 inch walleye. I of course wasn't going to let him get a day in without fishing...even his wedding day! So at 7:00am the morning of his wedding Phil, his best man Pete Hilman and I met at Gander Mountain to buy some suckers and get a few hours of fishing in. It was a cold, foggy morning that looked like a scene from a Steven King novel. I couldn't think of a better "bachelor party" than this. The morning had musky written all over it. Within the first hour however, we had nothing but a strike on a sucker. What happened in the following hour and a half will burn in my memory until the day I die... ..."There he is!" Phil yells, rod bending hard as his Suick screams for mercy.  A 42" wedding present from the Musky Gods! It doesn't get any better than this! Or so I thought. A half an hour later Phil doesn't say anything, he grunts as he sets the hook when something inhales his 10" Suick again. She ran north pulling the 18' Ranger wherever she wanted. After a well fought 15 minute battle that seemed endless, Pete slid the net under her, a massive 49.25" X 24" musky. You could feel the large gamefish in her stomach. I've never personally seen a fish with this kind of girth. With an hour left of fishing, we figured the day couldn't get any better. We figured wrong. Twenty minutes later my jerkbait stops dead a few pumps into my retrieve. I pound the hooks home and the huge head shakes let me know she was there. I no more than said "Got her" when she headed for the depths without me stopping her. After a battle too exciting for me to remember my biggest Wisconsin fish ever, a 49" X 23" was in my grips. After a couple quick photos she was released like the others to grow to a size unknown. Days later I'm still shocked. Shocked by the fishing and shocked we all made it to the wedding in time. (I love One Hour Photo!) God blessed us that day with great fishing. He blessed Phil with two great catches a great fish, and super wonderful wife. We were all blessed to be in such good company at a beautiful lakeside ceremony. I wish you all an experience like this. | Thanks alot! Nothing quite like a boring person who can make his life sound exciting! Seriously though, I've been fortunate to have the desire and time to write and have been lucky enough to have some things published. Hopefully one day I can be knowledgeable enough to write to benefit this industry.
