Does anyone know how Musky Hunter group did at Sandy’s a couple weeks ago?

It’s usually posted on Musky Hunter but I don’t see anything.

Just curious if they had a better year than last or if it’s another “bad” year to confirm some of the gloom and doom that’s been talked about LOTW recently.

Thanks - Midge

Not as bad as the 53 total from a year ago but still not up to their historical average from 5-10 years ago. I believe only 9 fish at or over 45" of which 5 of those were caught by instructors. No fish at or over 50". I think the spin put on it was a bunch of storms rolling through midweek. When doesn't that happen on LOTW??

Most of the group outings in July took it to the chin on numbers up there.

I love it up there at Sandy’s resort, and believe the school to be a rare jewel in a quest to become a better musky angler. But, you are not getting that section of LOTW to fish “all by yourself.” Schools like University of Esox, Musky Hunter Magazine, and sites like this one have helped turn a bunch of guys flailing around into an army of very skilled anglers who will have accurately picked most spots apart long before it’s lunchtime. That said, I’m told storms kept you off the water half the week. In three times up there for me, I got to fish every single day.

Heiting was on the musky road rules podcast talking about the outing. Check it out. It was a great discussion.

Thanks for the heads up! I've been on a marathon Ugly Pike podcast run for two weeks. I forgot about RoadRules.
