I always feel like I'm not taking care of new batteries as good as I should. I've been in the game for some time and have used lead acid and gel deep cycle batteries for my 24-volt system in my 2006 Tuffy Deep V. I'm going with lead acid this time and I want to hear your best practices to maximize life from the time of install until they are "broken in". I have a 3-bank charger. Thanks!

I've been using a remote desulfator on my batteries for 12yrs. My charger has a desulfator built in to it but the remote one puts a constant charge through all three batteries 24/7/365. Maybe I'm just lucky but all my batteries . averages 5-7yrs. Starting and trolling

I am seriously considering the remote desulfator option, when I was on the fire department our new Pierce engine had one built in to the charging system. Are you using a single one like this, or a multi-bank unit? https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00R9VQIOA/ref=psdc_15707061_t1_B00UJGBQUI

I also average 5 to 7 years on my batteries. Summer or winter, when the boat is parked, my onboard charger is pugged in.
By lead acid, I'm assuming AGM (absorbed glass mat), not liquid lead acid.

I use one 12v for the starting battery and one that's capable of taking care of the two trolling motor batteries. (24v)
