Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | SHEESH what an invasion. We have literally thousands of the things trying to bunch in corners, under the siding, flying all over the house and landing in Sue's coffee cup. Anyone else out there bombarded by these nasty critters? Trying to work on the 1690 the other day they were so thick I was covered in the things. Had more than 20 on the front of my T shirt most of the afternoon. |

The other day I made the mistake and opened the windows to let some fresh air in the house (had screens in the windows) and they somehow found their way in the house. I was out fishing and got a very nasty phone call when the little lady got home from work. |

Something else around here that's an issue is wasps. I usually suck up about 100 with the shop vac every morning when I go out to the workhop.
Gotta find the hole they're coming in through!!!!!

Location: Stevens Point, WI | They are terrible here too, I have my shop vac out and ready to suck them up when they start to bunch. I have small maple in the back yard that was absolutely covered, same with the west side of the house. |

Your order for One Million of those lil' buggers came in at my house. Will you please come pick them up. Somehow they escaped the packing crate and are all over my house and yard. You wioll have to collect them yourself.
I was out on Lake St Clair yesterday and there were tons of them floating on the water too. Any clump of weeds had a bunch of them clinging on trying to stay out of the water.
Were these pests brought here on pourpose to combat some other thing? Then of course they get out of controll as usually happens when man trys to interfear with nature. |

I am in Wisconsin in the north too. The ladybugs are terible. They bite, and I mean bite hard. I am praying for another cold weather front.

Location: Woodstock, IL | We've got 'em too. We also have box elder bugs in equal numbers. The south side of my house is covered with them and somehow they manage to find a way in.
I'm not eating them.... have you ever squished one and experienced the awful smell? |

Location: Rice Lake,WI | Everywhere man, and ditto the ol'box elders. Nobody mentioned my other favorite buddy Mr. Tick. We were out grousin' the other morning and WOW
we were covered from head to toe and you should have seen the dogs,poor
suckers were loaded. She should be starting to snap soon though I hope.
The recipes didn't sound to bad...I'll try anything once! |

| I once lived in a rural setting, an old farm. We had lots of ticks and box elders. Talked to an old local farmer, he said, "Git Ginnie Hens"9(sp?), a type of chicken, sorta. So I bought 6 chicks. They hung around the outside of the house and ate any and all bugs. They really made a difference. Then, a Red Tailed Hawk began picking them off, one every day until only two smart ones remained. The two followed me around the yard like puppies, and whenever possible, roosted on my sleeping golder retriever. When they decided the safest place was IN the house they began bolting inside when someone opened the door. I got rid of them after they began regularly crapping on the dog. True tale. |
