Water temp right now is in the low to mid 50s with this warm weather. I normally fish jigs on both lakes this time of year but due to warmer weather this pattern may not as strong as normal yet. Try gliders and jerk baits. A ten inch Suick has been good in the past for several fisherman that I know. Try a Jackpot early on the inside weedline. This should get you an extra bite or two in the days you will be fishing here. Very few folks throwing topwater shallow and it generally works until about 9am or so. Try the rocks and whatever green weed you can find. Let us all know how you do. Let me know what lake you will be on Friday. I may be able to get out and say hello. Look for a blue and silver Ranger 519 with 225 Opti. I am thinking about Bone on Friday if I can get out at all.

I fished Deer last weekend and I receive daily reports from that water and fishing has been EXTREMELY slow at best. The water temp has been hovering around 54 degrees for several weeks but the fish haven't been moving. We only saw a total of 4 fish in 3 days and only 1 showed any signs of aggression. I would strongly urge you to try Bone.

Just got back from Polk county. We saw numerous fish on Deer, and only fished bone one day. We got two fish that measured 41" and one at 44" on Deer. The water temp was between 50-54. We got them on suckers. They were not hitting on lures, just following them out to the boat. We sat in about 10-15 feet, and casted the weeds(the greenest we could find). The fish seemed aggressive, they just wouldn't take a lure. Also an upper 40" or possibly 50" was spotted on the sand bar on the westside of the lake south of the launch. It was pulled out with a reefhawg, and just kept eyeing the suckers for about 45 minutes.....A group of guys with us fished bone a couple of days, nothing but a few follows......

It doesn't surprise me that several fish were taken on suckers as I did see one caught several weeks ago that way. I certainly agree that they aren't hitting lures, I'm glad someone knows how to find active fish there. Heck our definition of ACTIVE would have just been seeing ones swim by.

We've marked DEER off the list for the remainder of the year but we'll hit it opening weekend as it does hold some nice fish
