Nice video but for the life of me, I do not understand why people don't control the bag as they net the fish. This is the result a hooked lure and the fish outside of the net. They were fortunate, congrats. I would rather net a fish by myself than let someone net them with an uncontrolled bag.

Of all the instructional-everything and general anality of muskie fishing, net jobs seem to be one of those things that slip through the cracks. Nobody talks about it, nobody teaches you how to do it. The only way you learn is by screwing up other people's fish and remembering to not do that again...

Well, even someone as experienced as Jim Saric can turn netting a fish into high adventure so ----

It's easy, hold the bag release it as you net the fish. Leave the bag free and it can move into a position that creates the scenario seen in this video and others.

Their videos are fun.... but they sure do run around their boat a lot when they have a fish on. Hard to say if they do more figure 8's in the water or circling a round the darn boat!

I kept thinking the same thing, running around the boat makes it really difficult for the net man.

Actually, walking a fish around the boat, In one Direction, is a good way to keep a fish Pinned, especially if it’s hooked lightly...

Again, Reaching leaves Net Man Vulnerable!!!  There was No need to reach for that Fish!  Net man had Zero leverage/ Strength to Lift/Net Fish, that was played out and Gliding Nicely....

jdsplasher is spot on. Best way to avoid that situation is to communicate. The net man should be getting continuous instructions from the angler. And, any fish that I truly want to catch... get's a walk around the boat... or two.. or three.

They catch some nice fish and videos are great, but more time fighting the fish means it's more likely to get off in my opinion. And I'm surprised they haven't tripped over the rods or junk in the boat. If you've got the right gear then control the fight and get the fish in the bag!

Kudos to these guys putting a botched net job on You Tube for all the world to see. I really enjoy their videos ... they do a nice job and aren't afraid to show the good and bad of musky fishing. We have all been there netting a musky. Grabbing the net bag and not reaching will usually work but sometimes the unexpected happens with muskies. Watching how to recover a botched net job is as valuable as demonstrating the correct way.
