Posts: 30 | Found my fuel leak. The factory ran a screw through the top of my tank when mounting the rear seat when the boat was purchased new in 07. Any suggestions? Am I gonna have to cut a whole in the floor to patch? I called Tuffy and they quoted me 2000-2500 to replace tank and fix floor and recarpet.

Posts: 32944 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | The factory very probably didn't mount the seats, the dealer probably did to fit the buyer's reach unless you picked the boat up at the factory. Someone used screws that were too long. I'd look at a 4" to 6" port. CAREFULLY cut the hole out so as not to further damage the tank. Get a flanged/gasketed screw larger than the hole caused by the screw, use a gasoline resistant sealant, and run the screw into the hole. That thing been leaking since 2007?

Posts: 30 | I don’t think so. I think over the years, the hole just got larger. I’ve been smelling fuel when I fill the tank and top it off, for the last couple of years. I really noticed the problem last season when I kept trying to top the tank off In Canada and saw it coming out of the drain plug. I picked that boat up at the factory and they installed the rear seat with 2” screws all the way around. Thanks Steve.

Get 1.5" stainless screws to replace them, making sure they go through the plate in the floor but not much more than that.

X2 agree just repair the tank… then you could just cover the hole in the floor with something like this. Attachments ---------------- floor plate.jpg (20KB - 421 downloads)

| JB waterweld will plug that tank hole. Gasoline does not affect it. | |||
