Location: Rochester, MN | Just wondering how many of you keep a record of what baits you have and how you organize it? Do you break it down by lure category, lake, sunny, overcast, windy, etc.? |

Location: On the O | Time of year, then how much time I'll be casting or trolling is how I select baits.
They're hanging on the wall in the basement by type so I'll grab what I "need" then one or two that either catch my eye or that I've forgotten I even had.
Then I use pretty much the same 5 baits if casting, trolling will see a lot more baits hit the water for sure. But eventually I put on "the one" and leave it on till the end of the season looking for the big girls.

| I have an inventory strictly for insurance reasons. (Fire,Theft etc...) I have pictures of any expensive baits invidualy and group pictures of everything else. |

- inline blades
- spinnerbaits
- topwater
- soft plastics
- crankbaits
- jerkbaits
- vertical jigs
- sucker rigs
I use it to manage the fleet: culling unused baits, tracking maintenance, building redundancy efficiently, managing replacement hooks, etc. It's much easier to keep track of everything when it's just right there in front of you.
I do not relate this to fishing conditions other than I categorize by type and color.

hot #*^@ that is OCD IMO...I couldn't do it man. My list would be so #*^@ long iD give up way before I got it all on the sheet. Glad you can organize like that because I cant |

Lol, I hear ya, but it didn't start like that - I started by just listing most of the baits with colors. Over a few years I added the other details and refined the organization. Just this winter I added more hook detail as I was frustrated by not really knowing if I have all the replacement hooks needed and what I should have in the boat all the time. 20 mins here and there adds up over several years without it ever feeling like a huge burden. It helps I don't own that many baits (about 110).

| After seeing the house behind me go up in flames, I think I am going to do an inventory of baits and equipment, with pictures for insurance this spring. |

Location: Athens, Ohio | I get a memory chip, lay out baits and rods, reels, nets,etc. take pics of all the stuff, and keep it in the bank box.
Just a bit of advice: if you do that, pick a day when the wife's away. m |

| Pretty much what Mikie did. If I had to update a spreadsheet every time I bought/sold/won/broke/lost a lure, I'd be... even more nuts. The hook thing is a good idea, though. Right now I just go through the hooks in my box until I find one that's close to the one I just cut off and call it a day.

Location: Vilas County, WI | This hobby is so expensive I definitely keep an inventory. Not an itemized list like the spreadsheet, but I take a photo and a generic log of everything every other year or so. Between all the casting and trolling combos, net, release kit, and a crapload of baits, I would be at a significant loss should theft/fire occur.
I've had this same discussion with my insurance agent about my hunting equipment - guns, archery gear, etc. If the collection of gear was smaller, I wouldn't care as much. I wouldn't call it OCD, just being prepared and protected. |

Thinking the same thing Sled. If ever there was an individual born to plan out preventive maintenance for a large plant, making sure everything was done on time, stocking those critical components and maintaining records of work done, scheduled, etc. |

| Every policy is different so there is not a blanket answer. I know mine are but given the price of some of the lures I have and volume of them, pictures make it easy to prove you had it if somewhere down the line an adjuster is giving you a hard time with your claim... Same goes for rods, reels etc.... |

Do ask you agent! Take an inventory and give an estimate, be sure that you HO policy covers it while at your residence and your boat policy - if different - covers your stuff away from home. I have my boat, motor, troller listed on my HO policy with enough coverage for all the stuff. m |

| As I start a new collection of muskie, bass, and walleye baits, and rods, I will take inventory this time!! I will save receipts and take photos of everything for insurance purposes. Nothing hurts worse than loosing everything you own, and not having renters insurance on the cabin you rent, for the summers! Do yourself a favor and take an inventory and photos of all your gear! |

| The “deluxe” H 03 homeowners policy covers your unscheduled personal property at home and anywhere in the world. That being said unscheduled personal property is only covered for the “named perils” list in the policy which include fire,theft, windstorm which is same as a tornado. However, there is a stated limit on the personal property so u need to consider if you have high enough limits to pay for ALL the personal property u ownin the event of a total loss. There are also limits on certain types of property like guns or jewelry may only have $2,500 limit for theft. U can buy higher limits or inland marine cover etc. I suugest you find your HO policy and read it and if you then have questions call your agent. Good Luck |

| "upping" your insurance is fairly minimal, ive found. Been with the same company for quite some time. Ive had a few claims and they never sent an adjuster. Just paid the quote. |
