Posts: 55 Location: Wisconsin | Do any of the musky shops carry the magnum size pacemakers or were they only available at the shows?

Posts: 774 Location: South East Wisconsin | I’m pretty sure you can only get those at the shows. You could probably contact Ty direct I’m sure he has a few left over.

Pretty sure Ty said they were show specialsthis year, but he would contemplate adding them to the lineup some day. They're nice baits. I tested mine out. Great big profile and same great pacemaker sound. Big fish bait for sure. They are made out of wood, since they're not a production bait yet.

Posts: 618 Location: Michigan | Can someone post a picture of this bait? I'm pretty sure there was a picture of it in a recent album from this year's Chicago show, but I can't seem to find it.

Location: Ontario, Canada | Contact Aaron at Musky Tackle Online he may be able to help you. I added the 8" for comparison. On the large bait the body from the nose wire to rear is about 10", and the rear wire is about 2". So the overall length is approx,12". The girth behind the eyes is approx, 5 1/8". Posts: 774 Location: South East Wisconsin | Anybody know of a good leader to use with the mags? Last year I had problems with #174 wire.

Posts: 424 Location: MN | Random bump 8 years later... Anyone have any feedback on this bait now that it's been out for a while? It's available from drifter for $37 under the wood pacemaker category on their website. Worth it compared to the smaller pacemakers?

Posts: 35 | I used one of the original Magnum Pacemakers for years before it broke. I purchased one to replace it from Drifter and the tail came loose. I tried to epoxy it back in place but it came loose, so I bought another one, and the same thing happened. I believe both Drifter products had one screw holding the tail in place, and the original had two screws holding the tail in place, but I'm not 100% sure about that. Anyway, I tried putting a second screw into the Drifter product to no avail. Great bait in big wind but not sure if I would buy another.

Posts: 424 Location: MN | Thanks for the feedback. That's unfortunate, especially for a $40 bait. If I do end up getting one (probably not) I'll inquire about this specific problem - could be they have addressed it since you had the issue.

Posts: 20253 Location: oswego, il | I have one with very light use. A wood one from Ty. I don't throw much topwaters but every time it's been on someone's rod it's gotten attention. It's slower than a typical tail rotator with a big sound and wake.

Posts: 833 | I have a magnum wooden pacemaker I got at the MN show about 8 years ago. For awhile I didn't throw it because it didn't reliably spin on the first crank and was prone to fouling. A few years ago, I decided to mess with it and after some trial and error it now works well. Keys were 1, find the right amount of lead solder on the shank of the front hook to keep the nose down so it will start on the first crank and 2, getting the right bend in the back blade so it makes a nice clean sound. I also clipped the hooks off the middle hook so it just a nub, which prevents the fouling that often happens. The bait must be retrieved slow. At what I would consider even medium speeds it spins and loses it's pop. (There are better prop baits to fish with speed IMO) The sound on it is excellent though, it crisply puts out that unique wood pacemaker pop pop pop. All in all, I'd say it is more of niche bait. I bring it out when fish are being weird and I want to give them a different sound or a longer profile. It definitely isn't the first or even second topwater I'd pick to throw.
