Posts: 1189 Location: Bagley,MN 56621 | hitting the lake whenever I can before and after work (usually only about an hour and a half each time given the lack of daylight these days). last nite had one, this morning had 2 porpoise out of the water behind my glider and totally WOOF it, not even a "tick"....got one to keep following and go through the 8 twice....not to be seen again. At least I'm movin fish with the limited time I have, but would like to convert more of these. None of the fish were REAl hot, but they at least went after it (46 degree water) I'm pausing pretty good, think after the pause, they zig and I zag. Should I not pause? pause longer? go bigger? thx much.

Posts: 32957 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | This is going to sound crazy, but I have been tossing a small Suick at the fish that do that to me lately, and they absolutley eat the thing. I work the bait with pretty sharp pulls, getting the bait to dive at least two feet, the a pause that allows it to rise/wobble one. Try working those same fish with this lure, and see if it works for you. Let me know, I am curious if I have been missing a great technique for late fall by getting TOO hung up on the big gliders. Don't get me wrong, the Wabull and Undertaker and Reef Hawg are still splashing too. Attachments ---------------- IMAG0005.JPG (95KB - 196 downloads)

Posts: 1189 Location: Bagley,MN 56621 | Will try that, thanks Steve. Over the last 2 days I have moved lazy fish on Bobbies. I did toss a Suick for quite a while thinking the smaller profile vs. a Bobbie would get em to go. No such luck, but then again was diff day/conditions/etc. Was also using it a primary bait, not a throwback. WIll try the throwback after the glider. Kind of neat to see every time out they turn it up just a notch....have resorted to taking swipes now. and here I just sold all my unweighted Suicks and kept all my weighted ones...... DOH!!

Posts: 32957 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | Also, I am using the SMALL one (6") which seems to be more effective than the 9" model. Try leaving the fish for a few minutes to a half hour and going back after them with the 6" Suick. Get 'em!

Posts: 941 Location: Freedom, WI | Gregg had a 36" make a pass at my glide bait this morning and turn away, I twitched the bait just a little bit and then it turned back and hit it. I set the hook when it had it in its mouth (I never felt it until I set the hook. Sometimes these fish just drive ya nuts. I will try to attach a picture, never did it before. Posts: 1189 Location: Bagley,MN 56621 | popped a 36" last nite. T-boned the bait good. I had 3 other t-bones also before this one, but before I realized what was happening, they had dropped it. I saw em all come in real fast......think they had their mouth closed. They were are smaller fish, so glad I was able to stick the biggest one I moved last nite. Still stuck at 36", the hunt for the big one continues...I know their in there!!! I did try to throw back a baby Bobbie some, but it had a real fast rise to it. Not sure if this would have the same technique after they hit it vs. them swinging and missing.

Posts: 20278 Location: oswego, il | Greg, according to your e-mail I got today, did you have a t-bone and a twelve pack too? Maybe that's why you missed those fish?;-)

Posts: 1936 Location: Eau Claire, WI | Greg... Did you say T-Bone.... Get ahold of Ron Bentley from our chapter and ask him for one of his new "Slow Tease" jerk baits. The work similar to a Suick with a touch of "glide" thrown in for good measure. We have a meeting tomorrow nite and I"m coming to Barron on Tues...I could drop one off for you at your office if you would like. Go get that big pig that chased my Cobb's to the boat last year......
