| When i get off work at 6:30, I'm meeting a friend who happens to be a hardcore bass fisherman, to go Muskie fishing. He went and spent money and got a decent combo qnd some lures. But i dont think this guy really knows what he's getting himself into, lol. This time of the year a lot of your bass fisherman start tapering off, then basically any boat you see is either a Muskie fisherman, striper, walleye, or catfish fisherman. I told him it was going to cold, basically all morning(36 degrees with 3-6 mph wind at 7:30, then topping out at 42 at noon), and he said he would be all right, lol. I dont think he really knows what Muskie fishing is all about, he's never fished for Muskie before. And i also don't believe he's ever fished below 45 degrees before haha.
Have you guys ever had somebody tag along who exclusively targets another species? |

| A good fisherman is a good fisherman. If he is hardcore bass then he should be fine. I've taken several others out for their first time muskie fishing and they did great. A lot depends on the teacher. Show him the basics and let him fish. Let us know how it went. |

Location: Athens, Ohio | I'd venture that we were all 'bass fishermen' at one time. Take him to your good spots, explain why they are 'good spots'; suggest appropriate baits for his skill level (may want to hold off on the Pounders and try a bucktail or topwater) and explain why these particular baits work; get on him to figure 8! Most importantly, explain how your net works and the right way for him to net your muskie.m |

Being primarily a bass fisherman, it may not be as appealing to him. Not everyone has the ego and drive muskynuts do. |

| Took a buddy out almost a month go. He's never fished for muskies and I believe hes a Walleye fisherman. I get really worried when taking someone out who has never fished Muskies that they are just going to get bored to fast. Then you always hear after the first hour with a newbie "where are these fish at" knowing full well as a muskie guy things can happen at anytime or sometimes not at all.
My buddy I took out I explained to him theres a good chance we dont catch a fish. Theres a possibility we dont even see a fish, even though I was confident we would see at least one. Well, we moved 12 Muskies that day, I bagged a nice 44 and my non muskie fishing partner had 8 of the follows and pry should of bagged at least three. He had a blast and told me it was the greatest fishing experience he has ever had.
Needless to say there is no better thing than taking a new guy out and having a great day. But man it can be frustrated if the fish just shut down and dont show themselves. I even told my buddy before we got out that I have went days without seeing fish before and sometimes question what the F im doing with my life on days like those. He understood and was up to the challenge and it turned out to be an awesome day.

| Lol man he was miserable the entire time. Acted like he was about to freeze to death, lol. Constant wind and the cold broke his spirit down lol. We ended up heading back in at 10:30 because he couldn't handle the cold. Then tells me the next day that his arm and chest muscle was sore lmao |

| Well you just never know. I took a newbie to a small pressured lake who started lobbing 4" suckers lipped on a heavy Erie Dearie. He didn't catch fish but he had #*#*load of follows while I never saw a single one on my presentations. I went back to rip/stall with a heavy-duty black/black bass jig tipped with a 4" sucker and caught muskies.

| Hahaha I love fishing in the cold weather. Interestingly my biggest fish came in June. I would imagine most guys switched over from a lesser species. Years ago, I would fish the Atlantic ocean for Striper in the winter. The lower Delaware bay between Cape May NJ and Lewes Delaware is called of the rips. Going out there for bass in January is the most hard-core cold fishing I’ve ever seen. I caught some bass there in 6 to 8 foot seas with 3 ounce bucktail jigs tipped with rubber eels. A few years ago my brother got a nice 45 inch musky in my boat on a shumway giant flasher in December, it was snowing good times. Tomorrow high of 50 with 5 mph wind in Pennsylvania, full moon was last night I think. Think I’ll try some pounders |
