Posts: 242 | Here is the Replica I had done that hangs in my basement. It is hard to see in the pictures, but the background is a large underwater scene with a submerged weedbed (and I added the weeds coming out to enhance the scene). Awesome replica too! What'd that cost roughly? I'm thinking about something similar. Got my first 50+ this year. I gave him $2000 up front and said have at it. So, in the picture it has a couple of small perch as well. At some point, I want to do a little more work on the bottom making it look more like bottom subtrate rather than the bare wood. Just have not gotten around to doing so yet... Steve

Posts: 227 | I have repos of muskies both true and tiger as well as a largemouth and walleye done by Lax, and they are nice. However, after spending 20 years in the Land O Lakes area of Wisconsin, I got used to seeing my fish in just about every tackle shop, supper club and several banks. The paint jobs were almost identical, and did not match up with my photos of the fish. If you don’t spend much time in the Vilas County area, I doubt you would notice the similarity of the paint. The workmanship is still great, but I am a little disappointed when I look at my repos. They are not neither as unique as I would like, nor do they match up with the photos. Just my thoughts… Edited by Abu7000 10/23/2018 2:33 PM

Just my thoughts… This is a great point and the reason I searched around, because I really wanted it to be "my" fish and not some general canned pattern. With that being said, there are some artists that will paint your fish scale by scale, which will really get you your "fish," but will also kill your wallet. The gentleman that did mine I think really married the two together, which was a customized quality product with a somewhat economical value. A few distinct features on the fish I caught made it to my replica, which gave it that "My Fish" feel. I can produce pictures demonstrating this, but I feel I will be hijacking the thread. But I do understand where you are coming from and a replica should have enough in it to satisfy what you are looking for. Edited by Lucky Craft Man 10/23/2018 2:51 PM

Posts: 52 | The musky, a Clair fish 49.5 x 26, the walleye was 32 by 18 I believe. Not 100 sure I can remember the girth on the walleye.

Just my thoughts… Lax did my Goon fish and nailed it exactly with the picture I gave him. He also did a crappie for me out of the Rainbow, and it was a very unique pattern he again nailed exactly to the images. Hardly anything like any muskie or crappie caught in WI. He has dozens of 'em on display at the shows, and the differing paint jobs are amazing. Stop in at the Muskie Expos and take a look, you will see first hand the artistry he offers. Rick also sponsors the Big Fish contest here, and gives away a free replica to the lucky winner each year. Pretty cool.

Posts: 2515 Location: Waukesha & Land O Lakes, WI | Rick has done everything from Musky to Walleyes to Northern to blue Perch for us and has been spot on. I get it though, you want your fish to be unique. which is something you can do with the mount, the wall, the wood/plaque, adding a lure to it's mouth, make it personal. To me most big Musky look the same if they're from the same area.

Posts: 1767 Location: Lake Country, Wisconsin | I dont regret the purchase of my replica. With that said, I sometimes wonder what picture was being used as it was painted. But...looks cool either way, and most people wouldn’t know the difference
