4 fish in 3 years for me. Does this "encourage" or "discourage" you, Steve. (LOL) Keep learning and casting. Learn to enjoy the thrill of a 40+ incher following your bucktail with it's nose in the hair then turning at the boat just to "Taunt" you.  Deer hunting...Musky hunting,  very similar experience. Stay at it. you'll nail one soon. See you on the North Webster waters.

I'm in a white Tracker Magna 19.

Steve,

If you go to Webster right now and keep your boat in 5-9 feet and cast the hell out of some sort of 6 inch glide bait, you will score.

As soon as you are leaving the channel, don't even motor up. Start casting and head towards Echo Bay, this is a huge flat area and the fish are starting to move up there. The good thing for you is, they are moving up there to feed, so followers could easily be turned into eaters.

Hit me with an e-mail at [email protected]

Hope this helps,
Mike Hulbert

What is with the bees? My folks just moved up there and the bees are pretty bad? Is it like that every year? Good to here you're putting some in the boat. Headed up there in month, and hoping it's turned on and popping by then.

I suggest you hire Chae Dolsen ([email protected]).  He is a guide, president of the Webster Lake Muskie Club, lives on Webster, and can shorten the learning curve.  Also a friend of mine.

The bees get pretty bad there last few years. I got chased out of Kaiser one year, my brother said there must of been 30-40 flying around me...I coulda swore there was about that many around him... As for catching fish down there... I have raised around 50 fish this year. Had 3 missed hits, 0 caught fish. I have raised them from as little as 1 foot of water to having them come up from the deep holes. Big baits, little baits, even bass baits. If ANY of you are out on the barbee chain and see that old tan Tuffy Rampage that is ME. Only Tuffy I've seen on the chain.. Uhh, if you see it this weekend could you tie it up for me? Looks like a real good storm heading through there this weekend....lol.. If you see me feel free to stop me and see how the fishing is..or let me know what is working. Last two fish I saw were following or hitting jerk baits. Water temp last week was around 73. Only Esox family member caught out of my boat this year was a 26" Pike on a medium diving lure in about 17' of water. As for the jerk bait fish? One was casting deep water, the other casting towards about 7' and bringing it deep, it hit in aboout 7'.

I am no expert but would be happy to show you what I have learned. I have only been after them for about a year now and have 15 all from this area. Not a lot but I can put you on fish.

It took me a few years before i started to see the Musky, let alone catch them. Stay consistent in what you do and it will come.

Temps were about 63 this weekend, 65 shallow. Had two at night miss topwater baits about 6 times. Saw one boat trolling get a 36" on big barbee.
