They use them for stripers in AR, so I got some. The Heavy is a very similar action to a TDR. Probably the same blank???

Haven't used the Cabelas rods. This year new to me I am using a few of the Shimano TDR 8' heavy rods, and they are about perfect for trolling 6"-7" cranks like the super shad rap behind regular sized Church boards. Rods were only $30 at a local sportshop, I like to buy local when I can instead of saving a buck or two on the internet. I added the x-wrap shrink tubing to the handles and fore grips since they came with foam. Very happy with the x-wrap addition, holds up great. Good luck

I run the dipsy rods for trolling musky coupled with their 30 series reels. Catch them on sale and you'll have the most cost effective way to get into trolling. To all the haters, notice i said "cost effective." The 30 reels drags are pretty touchy but they work. The line pickup/power is a life/wrist saver when running 6+ lines. They are noodles but they keep the boards in the chop and I really like that elasticity for keeping fish pinned.
