Heading to Hayward at some point in August and will be going through the Twin Cities. My question is which is the best path at this time to go from the Cities to Hayward?

Thank you.

I would take I-94 into WI and then follow US 63 north...

Thank you both.

Last time I went to route 70 and over and got hung up about 4 miles south of the I-35 exit which cost me about 30 minutes. I took this route as I thought there may have been construction on 63.

Hiya,

Another route you can take is to go 35E in St. Paul to 36 East (or take 494 east from 35E and hit 36 that way past interstate 94), continue on 36 east which will take you to New Richmond Wisconsin (new bridge across st. croix river is very very helpful...speedy too)

Once into New Richmond continue east until you hit 63. Then 63 the remainder of the way.

All the noted routes will get you to Hayward, just a matter of where construction is being done.

I always take the exit 19 ( 63 north ) off I-94 but I am on the east side of the twin cities also.

Good Luck

Depends were you are driving from. If you are coming from the west or southwest, it will be much quicker to take 694 (from west) to 35W to get onto 35. if you are coming from the south or southeast, taking 94 to hwy 63 in Wisconsin is likely quicker. As much as construction matters, also think about time of day. If you are driving through Minneapolis on Friday rush hour, you are going to hit traffic...and 94/63 might be faster. Although getting onto 94 in Woodbury is always backed up and things are running slow through Hudson with some construction.

it doesn't hurt to take the long way. start driving west--you'll get there eventually. also, you don't have to worry about when you leave.
