Posts: 8 | Has anyone been in both and have an opinion which is better? Ranger has always been reputable but the recon looks like a Muskie Fishing machine. I have never fished out of the recon and would like some input if anyone has. Thanks

Posts: 1767 Location: Lake Country, Wisconsin | It is absolutely imperative one consider value when making a big purchase. I have watched Recons on the market and would suggest you do the same and watch what happens to 1) initial asking price, 2) time on the market, and 3) final sale price. Arguably the biggest name in the industry has his model up for sale very recently and the results of that sale kinda speak for themselves on where Recon currently stands on the market .....finish on both boat and trailer is not even close to the quality of a Ranger, imo. Location: Contrarian Island | Ranger is like the Rolls Royce of boats. Recon is like a Chevy. ![]() Edited by BNelson 6/29/2018 11:24 AM

Posts: 106 | I compare boats by price. As in. What can I get from Ranger for $50.000 vs what can I get from Recon for $50,000.

They both float but the comparison ends there. Edited by 4amuskie 6/29/2018 10:13 PM

Posts: 1209 | I dislike how the recon brand boats tend to sit low in the bow when one person is fishing (from the bow), some of this may be linked to how everyone is using the storage but I'm yet to see one fishing flat (ideal) or slightly bow up( much better than down) Other than this I think they would be alright but this is why I will not pursue one myself

Posts: 32926 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | I spent some time last week in Pete Maina's Recon, seemed like a nicely appointed boat. Ride was good, hole shot good and interior good. 'Comparing' this boat to a Ranger doesn't make a lot of sense, completely different price point, targeted market, and business philosophy. Both are nice boats.

Posts: 238 Location: Rhinelander | I've driven and fished in both models and for a muskie rig the Recon wins. Now I admit the resale value isn't the same comparing the two but is slowly closing the gap. My next boat could very well be a Recon when its my time to buy. If you find yourself curious about a Recon and in the north woods of WI do your self a favor and talk with Brian at Premier Powersports in St Germain. Brian was a service manager for two well known Ranger dealerships and now carries the Recon line at his own business. He can explain and answer any questions one may have before your next boat purchase.

He will be working on all my boats and power sport equipment for life. However, I have seen a couple of newer 619 boats heavily discounted of late. Maybe not as expensive if you shop around.
