Posts: 19 | Hopefully 360 scan will develop into a system that vocally says 51" x 26" musky 30 feet away 9 o'clock 5 ft down cast now. I do figure side imaging and 360 will continue to develop and co tinge to be easier to identify fish.

Posts: 859 Location: MN | It should be Crazy, I know when I bought my first brand new boat about 5 years ago I spent a good deal of money on Sonar. The next year a new model came out, and its feels like every year it gets better and better. I keep holding out for new sonar because it keeps getting better and better.

Location: Eastern Ontario | My main boat has 3 connected units side scan I have made my own map of my home lake with 1 foot contours. However more and more I enjoy taking my 12 foot tinny and old 4.5 hp no finder 3 lures 1 rod up a small local stream and fishing 50's style. I just wish my old bones liked lugging stuff in and out of the truck more.

Posts: 16632 Location: The desert | You'll be able to place waypoints on actual fish and the waypoint will update on the map in real time as the fish moves about the lake.

Posts: 264 | You will be wearing heads-up display glasses that are linked to your sonar and will show you the below water view at whatever location on the water you look. Or, if your eyes are suitable an implanted lens that does this.

I wonder if it won't be some marriage of sonar and underwater HD video. I recently got an HDS 9 Gen 3 and bought a Dr. Sonar dvd to help me understand what I am seeing. Many times he shows where he sees structure on the side scan, then puts down a good camera to see what fish are there. One is a place where side scan showed a boulder field and the camera revealed tons of nice small mouth and nice walleyes. He joked that yes, he has a waypoint on that and no, his buddies are not going to get that one from him. I am sure that in twenty years it will all be done by one unit, with the video only turning on when there is something to see.

Posts: 1144 Location: Minnesota. | Me, I'm hoping (against hope!!) that technology doesn't get much better. I thought my FL8 flasher would give me all I needed then these HDS units made their appearance and my fishing success sky-rocketed. Esp. in locating those bars that I figured I knew well only to find out just how much I was actually missing. And yep, I have the sidescan on my boat too, just never used it for the last 5 yrs. Bonehead I guess but I have enough to look at already. Now everybody knows the spots, the spot-on-the-spot and the configs. of especially structured bars that only time and effort would allow ya! I know I'm in the minority here and with this newer info. my catches have improved but I've found some tiny little gems of spots - not on any map- that have taken me a ton of time to "discover" (accidentally!!) that will eventually show up on the next newbies $2000 unit just cuz he could pay for it. I'm not liking this constant improvement and technological advancements but at least this topic allowed me to share that. Fat lotta good it's going to do but I feel better now! *grins* I likely just sound old. Well I am! Carry on.

Posts: 633 | It will be really good. Unfortunately the muskie will still be blamed for eating all the walleyes instead of those guys who have the mega 360 scan, gps enabled, sonar devices that will show you exactly where every fish is located in a body of water. It will also tie into both your trolling motor, and big motor. Program in your trolling route, and set your automatic reels, and go.

Posts: 612 | As long as they still give temp and depth I'm good. Lucky enough to know the lakes I fish on so the GPS - Waypoint stuff isn't needed.

Posts: 3147 | It doesn't matter,,,sonar and imaging will be so good by then the dnr will restrict or ban it. They don't allow thermal electronics for deer.
