Do you prefer single blades or double blades? Are single blades good year-round?

Think of them as tools of which you should have samples of both. I tend to think the fish become accustomed to a steady exposure of doubles so it's a good idea to thrown in a little variation every once in awhile. Not everyone has a reel that can comfortably handle double blades for extended periods of time so it's a nice departure from enduring that strain by using single bladed baits.

I don't think one is any better than the other, just different. That said, I've shied away from the smaller single blades for the simple reason that I get tired of unhooking small pike over and over and over... now, if I'm looking for dinner, that's a different story.

I throw singles and doubles, let the fish tell you what they want that particular trip.

If I the fish are biting quick moving Bucktails my favorite is the Apache Triple 8, because they actually pull less than doubles and don’t wear me out. For slower moving baits I like the single blade because I can slow it way down and the blade will still spin.
