I currently run a 1159 (no side imaging) on the passenger console. This is linked to my ulterra. I usually fish from the back. I enjoy putting people on fish just as much as i enjoy catching them.

My fishing partner is bringing his 899c (with side imaginig) to use when he fishes on my boat to mount in the bow. We will hook it to the universal sonar on the ulterra, i realize the side imaging will not work, we have the patch cable, power cord and gimbal. Will this work? Or is the sonar hook up the same as link connection?

I am also on the verge of buying a new helix 10 mega with si. Will i gain anything by getting a hub and networking it with the legacy units? My gut says no because the mhz are different? Maybe sharing waypoints? There is no way to use a legacy as remote screen for the helix is there? Lots of questions here... i think i am even more confused after writing this!

As long as the legacy unit is Ethernet capable you can link them. I have my 999 linked to my Helix 10 Mega. You need to turn off Chirp for the legacy unit to display the 10s info.
