Posts: 106 | I am thinking about trying some Cortland master braid this season. Just wondering what lb test everyone is using on their casting reel 80 or 100 lb? Also what color is everyone using green, blue or bronzeback?

Posts: 155 | 80# Bronzeback for me. I do have one reel spooled with white also. I don't think the color matters much.

Posts: 49 | I use the same thing as T. Carlson. 80# Bronzeback. I use the bronzeback because the water on Vermilion in nearly the same color, but with that being said, I don't think the line color matters much. Very nice line. It's expensive stuff, so I'll usually reverse spool the line that's already on my reels when it needs a change.

Posts: 269 | Howdy, I prefer 80 over 100 as it lays on the reel better and casts better, particularly on 400 sized shimano reels without a synchronized level wind. Your mileage may vary but its been true for me. Take care, Ruddiger

Posts: 2687 Location: Hayward, WI | I use 80 pound Bronzeback on everything. Have used 100 with no issues also and may go with 100 on a Pounder rod again. I'd say use whatever color you think looks the prettiest on your reel. Don't think it matters to the fish. Been very good line for me.

Posts: 1084 Location: Aurora | 80 on the 400's and 65 on the 350/300 size reels. Bronzeback & blue. Not suggesting you wait until fall but it's always a good idea to put yer new line on in the fall cuz it sheds water much better when it's new and less water transported to yer reel when it's cold = good.

Posts: 393 | I like 80# Bronzeback for just about all uses except my lighter weight spring setups.

I agree with this except I use 50 on my top and tail for smaller baits...then 65 on 300 size reels and 80 on 400 except pounder Rod get 100#
