| I know it's a relatively new reel, but has anyone tried using the Quantum Smoke S3 bait casting reel for throwing lighter lures for musky? It has good line capacity and a strong drag. It's only slightly smaller than the Tranx 300. It seems like it would be a good crossover reel between musky and steelhead/salmon.....davemp |

| quantum is not the most popular brand for musky.most guys stick with the big 3 shimano, daiwa, abu.it could be a good one but you better stay with the most popular model.if a lot play with them it's for a good reason |

Location: Eastern Ontario | I have never seen the reel but I pulled out the catalogue and to me it's got bass written all over it. I would personally only use it for very small stuff. |

| Thank you, You're probably right and stick with the big three. I think I would add the Okuma Komodo to the list. ..davemp |

Location: Aurora | I second the Komodo - Stainless main gear, pinion, spool shaft, and bearings.
Plus it's got a non-disengaging level wind. Something the others don't offer.
Remarkable casting reels 400 or 300 series. |
