Posts: 3504 Location: Elk River, Minnesota | Hi everyone, Knowing many of you travel to a nice destination here and there (like Canada) and not knowing that the docks can sometimes be a bit harsh on a hull, I'm wondering what fenders people are using on their glass boats. Being a Tin man for the entirety of my life until this year, the basic vinyl ovals have done just fine, but with the designs in fiberglass, I'm not sure those would be as fitting to use. Seeing smaller ones that fold about 1/3 to 2/3, vinyl ones that come up over the side of the gunnel, 6 foot curtain style, suction cup style... lots to choose from, so am looking for some opinions on these. So....anyone have some insight into what they have found? Good/bad, etc? Thanks

Location: Eastern Ontario | I don't see many sparkle boats tied to docks usually one guy steps off and gets the trailer and the boater waits off shore. I think the kind that fold over the gunnel would be best. Buy a couple from somewhere that would allow exchange unused and try for fit. If it was a a personal dock I would pad the dock and have mooring whips. Best place is on the trailer.

Posts: 354 Location: Vilas County, WI | Hull Hugrs rubbed the clear coat right off my new aluminum Lund after a week long trip (the boat stayed in the water the whole time). I was P. Off!! They were hanging straight/flat downward. Round fenders will roll - these slide up & down or swing side to side with the rocking of the boat. Flat surface on flat surface = friction = unhappy boat owner. Edited by TheShow 2/6/2018 10:40 PM
