Yes? No? Maybe so?

Got a Curado 300 EJ for burning 8s and smaller. Doesn't work for 10s or even 9s.

I have both the 300ej and the Lexa 400hd! Curaso 300 is great with small buck tails and Lexa 400hd is great with 10's! I use the 5.1 gears and for the money it's been a great reel!

Yeah, the Lexa 400HD will work just fine #10 blades.

The Komodo 471SS works well for #10 blades too.

Thanks guys. What gear ratios are you using, Beastly?

The 5.1:1 Lexa 400 pulls tens like butter. The 6.3:1 Lexa 400 pulls tens much harder

I have since switched to using the Komodo 471SS reels, but when using the Lexa 400HD I used the 7:1.1 as well. I liked the fact the I could get the bucktail up in the water column really quickly with the faster gear ratio.

The faster gear ratio means a bit more effort when cranking though, the lower gear ratios would make cranking a bit easier, but slower.

7.1:1 is a little to high of a ratio for Bucktails, great for Line Pickup On Jerks.
Stay with 6.1:1 max for 8,9 or 10’s

Never really had an issue with the faster gear ratio. To me it is just personal preference and what you can handle.

The lower gear ratio would feel easier, but I just like the faster reel for getting the bucktails up in the water column quickly.
