| My brother, dad and I have been chasing muskies for 2 years with no luck at all. Well today the ice has been broken, the boat has been crisend, Chute Pond has been gracious to me!!!! We had been fishing pike since friday, but the action on them went from fair to terrible!!! So by 8 this morning, the sun was well over the trees,it was starting to get hot, we were just kind of screwing off, when WHAMM!!! I fooled a very chunky 45.5 incher into taking a swipe at my silver/red,yellow buchertail. caught him with only one of the barbs on the treble hook, near the tip of the nose!! What a fight!!! The hook fell out right after my dad netted her. This was my first muskie, i'm 14 yrs. old. The catch was great, the release was great, but the really sucky thing was, WE FORGOT THE CAMERA!!! We thought of keeping her in the net and dragging her back to the pier we came off of which was about 1/4 mile away, but she ripped a big hole in the net, so we opted to just let her go. She swam away fine. I'm now hooked into muskie fishing!!! 2 more years and i'll have my liscense. Forget girls, forget football, i'm going fishing!! | |||

Posts: 477 Location: Iowa | You didn't need a camera to take a picture of that fish. You will NEVER forget that one. It will be etched perfectly in the back of your mind for you to look at anytime you please. You did the right thing by not dragging it back to the landing to get the camera. I know it probably sucked, but you did great. Keep at it and there will be more to come, and I bet you never forget the camera again. Oh yeah, now that you've got the fever, prepare yourself now. Might as well start saving the money now because there are an endless number of baits, rods, reels, etc. that you will think you just have to have to chase this elusive beast. Thanks for releasing it and Good Luck! | ||
