I have A 75hp merc been paying about $240 I got A quote from another marina for $65
The $65 guy says he can not justify it costing that much

Location: Eastern Ontario | Can`t see oil, filter and gear oil costing much over $70 and taking much more than 35, 40 minutes so what all else are they doing |

Location: Eastern Ontario | My Suzuki's don't call for fogging. I'm not sure if other 4 strokes that are fuel injected call for it. never have needed to do anything with live wells they drain completely. I do remove the check valves for my bilge pumps. I run gas containing no ethanol all year and start adding stabilizer towards the end of October. When I put the boat up in late November I usually have a full tank of gas. I'm not really sure if this is better than storing with very little gas and filling with fresh gas in May. I was told by our local fuel dealer that gas degrades less if the boat is stored outdoors than if stored in a heated building.
After i do my motors I remove my batteries seats trolling motor I prop all hatches open and spread Bounce dryer sheets liberally around the boat and in all hatches. At this point a guy comes and shrink wraps the boat also installing a zippered access in case i feel like looking or getting inside over the winter
This is the first year I left my boat in the water since early Aug at a marina on the St. Lawrence not looking forward to cleaning the bottom. A friend who left his boat in the water 7 weeks for the Lake Ontario Salmon Hunt used Spray Nine Boat Bottom Cleaner and said it worked really well and is safe for tin boats.

| Neither 65 or. 240 seem right. In in for 125- 170$
My book tells me plugs yearly or 100 hours there 130$ And a rule filter at 60$ and then gear lube idk 15$??? Labor @80$ for an hour, if doing all that I'd say it's possible for a 240 bill, I'm sure the 65$ job is just diff lube. Just see what all the dealer is doing

Location: WI | You really pay somebody to winterize for you? It takes less time than hooking up the trailer & taking it to a shop. (sarcastic disbelief over) Lower unit lube is a 10 min job and fogging my E Tec is done at the landing after the last day of fishing for the year. A Qt. of lower unit lube & a pump costs about $20, & the only tool needed is 1 Allen wrench. |

| I do my fishing boat with a 90 hp Suzuki, but my pontoon I have the dealership do it. For $220, they take it from the lake, change oil, filter, lower unit, stabilize fuel and bring it back and put it in my storage garage (90hp merc 4stk). I don't have a trailer and I think it is worth that.

That seems quite reasonable. What do they charge to put it back in in the spring. I wonder if there is any value in stabilizing fuel after its been in the tank for a while rather than at time of purchase. My boat holds 32 gal and I keep it topped up so I stabilize all fuel from now till i pull boat at end of Nov. |

I borrow a trailer in the spring and put it in myself. The fellow I borrow the trailer from takes his out early, stores it on the trailer, so not available in the fall. I think the dealership is either $50 or $75 one way but I am only 4 miles from shop. The charge by distance. To me it is worth it to have a insured dealer do it. And all season I do add a can of seafoam for every 10 gallons.

| If it's a 2 stroke, run a bunch of seafoam'd gas through it, fog it, change lower unit, and pour RV antifreeze ($3 @ walmart) into the livewells.
4 strokes you skip the fogging. Every few years I take it in for the impeller replacement and to look it over.

Location: Apparently where the Muskie aren't | Don't want to highjack the thread but do you guys do anything special if you run your boats (2 stroke) during the winter only, on a weekly basis? I've never did anything to it in past years but I'm wondering if I should. The boat only sees water between mid October and and fabruary. Then it sits all summer. Any special care for use in freezing conditions? |
