Looking forward to heading to the bay the first week in July this year. Been going up there a few years prior to covid but have caught a few each year. Wondering if anyone has any advice for this time of the year. Any thoughts would be appreciated, maybe we could share some notes. PM me

Thanks!!

Ice out is going to be super late this year. According to Lake of the Woods Patrol Site latest year since they've been keeping records going back to 2003: https://icepatrol.wordpress.com/

Things can heat up fast, but for sure last few years (in early July) probably not a great predictor for this one given that water levels probably going to be higher too.

We've fished the area many times and found mid-size bass cranks with upgraded hooks to be very effective, especially on the rock wall beginnings and reefs, ends and rubble cracks along the way.

^^^ What SWORRAL said. Had good success with rapala X rap also had good luck with 3/4 to 1oz spinnerbaits with a stinger treble on it. With late ice out shallow bays could be a good start.
