Posts: 983 | Ok So when I was asking about this last week someone in the thread asked me to compare these two Rods because there were mixed opinion like always not that this will change everything but this my point of view...I own Both of these Rods Big Dawg 8'6" 6-12oz obviously Predator 9'6" XH dont have weight rating The Predator is now my dedicated Pounder Rod and will be used for nothing else except maybe occassional Mag dawg.. The Big Dawg is exact what I was after and glad I didnt go big Nasty...The Big Dawg will Throw dbl 10s no Problem and is stiffer in tip then big nasty would be which is what I wanted...The Big Dawg is the Perfect Rod for me to Throw Possidions Shadzillas Swimming Dogs 8-12 Line threw baits but can also throw Blades if I want to ...I love how Rod Loads and ITs definantly no where near as stiff adn heavy as the Predator Rod. this was major Confusion in last thread couple people wee telling me that the Big Dawg was gonna be heavier stiffer than Predator def no true not even close...I didnt go slingblade or Big nasty Due to me owning Elk River 8'6" 3-9oz exact same rating as Slingblade so Figured they be fairly Similiar...In conclusion IMO big dawg great Rod for dbl 10s and and rubber under a Pounder and will throw variety of other baits as well... I love the Rod and now My predator will only Come out in the Fall When Im throwing Huge Rubber pounders or Bigger...Love the Big Dawg!! paired it with a Beast60HS and cant get enough of the Rod

Posts: 146 Location: Shawano, Wi | So you wouldn't recommend throwing pounders with the big dawg even if your not snap casting and letting the rod load

Posts: 213 Location: Wisconsin | You can definitely cast pounders with the big dawg. I personally would not snap cast a pounder on any rod due to the abuse on both the rod and your body. It's a versatile rod but i feel that it works best on baits under 10 oz in my opinion but certainly capable for fishing larger baits.

Posts: 251 | I have used both and prefer the Predator XH by a long shot. It loads great, has a little more forgiving tip than the big dawg but still has plenty of back bone for hooksets. I can cast anything from double 8's to pounders (all day) with it.

Location: Contrarian Island | I had a big dawg, it was too stiff for my taste. seemed to be more of a one trick pony (pounders or BIG baits). to me the big nasty is a much better option for burning blades with a tranx, and it's a great dawg/dussa rod too.. I have a new Pro Edge rod coming 8'11" that should be very comparable to the Big Nasty... at a much better price. ![]()

Posts: 1100 | The personal preference is great within this field, i find the Big Dawg a bit to soft for pounder, and monster dussas. Not saying that it cant do, and i occasionally use it for that, however i feel there are better choices out there for the "pounder class bait"

Posts: 1753 Location: Mt. Zion, IL | I tend to agree with BNelson on this. Big Nasty is one of the most versatile factory rods ever made. I do love my 9'8" XH predator for every bait except gliders, but the Nasty is perfect for bass baits to 10's.

Location: Contrarian Island | the old palming seats were much better than the new ones on the Big Nasty, I HATE the trigger underneath on the new ones.. the one I have is an "old" one... Pro Edge Rods are custom rods made by Keith Terlinden. He has a new blank that is sweet. He can custom make one that is very similiar to a big nasty. drop him a message on Facebook or PM me I can give you his email addy https://www.facebook.com/proedgefishing/?ref=br_rs

Location: Contrarian Island | the old one the trigger underneath curved forward, the current palming seat the trigger tilts back...
